"or or or...

... a weird armoured car?! " - Fletcher

Yep! What better way to start this thread! This time out I'm building the Italeri Sd.Kfz.232 6 Rad, also making an appearance will be the Voyager PhotoEtch set (still waiting), ArmorScale MG barrel, and LionRoar 20mm (still waiting).

.....BoxArt......

....reference photos and period photos.....

....I hadn't settled upon this build until I saw this color plate in Panzer Vor!...

...upon looking for references, I foujnd these photos which I believe support the 2 color scheme...

...and finally....one more shot....for some reason this photo struck a cord with me and so my base and the figure will be based upon this photograph...

...well, here we go again! As I'm still waiting for the PE, I'm going to be begining on the base and the figure, so progress shots of those will be filling the thread space and my time until the build starts....

Take care all,

Rick

Nice choice, and nice and unusual camo as well!
Did you get the "expert" kit with resin parts or is it the "only plastic" one?

The 232 6-rad is easily the coolest looking armoured vehicle of WWII. I'd rather like to have had one to cruise down main street

Keep us posted on your build. Now, if I can only get off by lazy butt, I may get around to weather my own build some day...

Is that the driver you see through the hatch in the third from last photo?

Looking forward to see your build.

Hi Rick,

Make sure to order the correct 20mm gun barrel for this kit. A vehicle of this vintage is best served by Armorscale's offering:

Nice choice Rick.

Just some advice offered having been here with this kit before. Watch the fit of some of the doors and check and check again you've bent the Voyager front grille accurately

Watch your photo refs, there's three different chassis with differences between each. A look at the front mudguards and/or radiator grill helps to tell them apart, for example the pic of 'Derflinger' above is a Magirus made vehicle. Magirus' also had a pair of wheels on the underneath. You can see them just in front of the rear mudguards. The Italeri kit's the Bussing-Nag chassis.

Italeri completely missed the cooling vents (again the shape differs between manufacturers) just behind the front mudguards. It can be a devil to spot in photos as it's often in the shade or behind the mounted boxes. I've attached a shot of this hard to see area.
