Talking Budapest 44

Hi,

Here are my 1st additions to my V-bench. It is the beginning of a diorama set in Budapest in 1944-45 depicting members of SS Wiking and an SDKFZ 250/1 . The materials are from a variety of sources including DML, Custom Dioramics, Verlinden, Mini Art just to name a few. I still have weathering and figure placement to complete. I will post pix of the 250 soon and well as more base work. By the way the base is a 1/12 diecast car base with a plastic lid.

It looks good so far. I love all the headless guys. to post pics, just add [IMG] to the front of the image tag, then type [/IMG] after the link with no spaces. Or, like james says just hit the mountain button, paste in the link and hit go.

Hi Curt,

as a matter of fact the SS Wiking division never reached the city of budapest.

On 1 January 1945 the SS Wiking divsion was part of operation Konrad I to relief the trapped forces in Budapest (Cavalry and Police troops as well as the Feldherrnhalle division) but the advance was halted by the russians at Bicske. The second attempt was operation Konrad II which started at the 7th of January 1945 also by the SS Wiking division. By the 12th of January the Westland regiment had reached Pilszenkereszt barely 20 kilometers from Budapest. That morning the Wiking Panzer grenadiers spotted the distinctive Budapest skyline in the morning fog. But the division was to vulnerable and overextended and was eventually ordered to regroup and pull back.

So maybe your dio could be located in the village Pilszenkereszt instead of Budapest.

Cheers
-Ambjoern

Curt

Nice idea I would just like to suggest spreading out the debris a bit more. At the moment the debris looks too localised in certain areas and the rest of the road is debris free.

I still have more to do. However the idea is that the debris has been piled up by the troops to form a defensive position. It will be more clear when the figures are in place and more "Dirt & Dust" have been added.

Thanks for the info on Wikngs movements and I will retitle the dio.
As for a few updates.
The 250/1 Neu and Royal Model update set.
The DML figures and Alders Nest MG34 barrels.
The 250/1 showing all of the ejector pin holes filled and ready for sanding.
The 1st three figures built, primed and ready for paint and weapons.
The 250 crew are DML figures with Legend, Verlinden and Warrior heads and accessories along with the Mission Models Micro Chisel the best seam removing tool I have ever used.
I am not affiliated with Mission Models in any way.
