Waffenträger 88cm Pak 43 (Trump 1/35)

Hi folks,

here's my current build in progress. Nice kit by Trumpeter, a lot of PE (I didn't replace the sides because the plastic was too fragile, still it's very thin, PE is not an obligation), metal barrel, etc... Having a lot of fun with it. BTW, I do not own a PE-bender, I did my best to bend it correctly and I(m quite happy with the result, it gives the shield a good look, as if it had been under rude conditions on the terrain...

Hope you'll like it, it's almost finished !

Word of advise, get one! Its a worthy investment in the long run, and not just for PE...

Anyways... you are almost done? You are a machine!!

Good work!

Ok fellows,

please don't be too rude, first try ! Haven't welded a thing for 15 years (in school, during technic initiation class^^) ! Quite happy with the result though, it might give it a "1945" style haha

Painting time incoming !

Looks good,

You may have to sand it a little on the edges....

What color scheme are you planning on?

Hi,

I had to stop sanding so the welding lines are a bit visible... In fact, the side parts of the shields decided to unglue themselves (selfish bastards, are they not ? ^^) when I had glued everything inside, including a second metal sheet put on rivets, quite fragile actually. So when I tried to sand it more, the shield would bend, turn, well everything but cool.
So, here's the beginning of the painting, with the AK 1945 set on a Citadel Skullwhite basecoat :

I don't know what camouflage to do... Maybe I'll leave the hull in the base color and paint only the shield with an ambush-style camo (sharp edges and dots)...

Yeah, tank destroyers FTW.

Well, the painting vas carried forward today ! I did the camo on the shield, inspired by a scheme I saw on a Nashorn and an "Aufklärungspanzer" in the late Steelmasters. Simple but I love it !

A nice Mig filter "tritonal camo" :

The shield :

Time for a little fading with oils :

Now a Mig Prod "Brown wash" around the rivets and into the structure, which I helped to distribute with a fine brush and white spirit :

Next step : a lil' bit o' chippin'
