Congratulations!

Can't wait to see some "real" paint on it.

so i got out the airbrush and got a good start this weekend. first step was just to take some black and kinda shade in the recessed areas to ensure coverage and then i just shaded some panel lines here and there in preparation for the undercoating. took forever to cover the brass bit underneath the engine access hatches that's why it's so black there!

after i finished playing around with the black, i went in with a mix of brown and earth tone and gave it a thin base coat with a little bit more pronounced panel lines and fading.

i have since put on the yellow overspray followed by several variable yellow colors to build up my base coat. finished that up pretty late last night so no pics yet but i'll try and get some up soon.

we have yellow.....

ok so i went over the brown undercoat with progressively lightened shades of dark yellow mixed with white all in the tamya range. after that i went back in mixing in a little bit of flat yellow into my lightest dark yellow mix and put a touch of a more yellow hue here and there. did some free hand shading and then some with masking tape to get a more start contrast. i may go back with a darker dark yellow to give a little more contrast but i havn't decided yet. i still have to do the brush painting with an even lighter shade so it will have plenty of contrast anyway. i'm just glad to have this part over with. i hate doing base coats and there is nothing worse than painting road wheels on these things.

the wheels were masked with a plastice drill bit sizer which i which i got at lowes some time ago for a few bucks. works for most anything except panther size stuff. 38t and small it woks good. tried to make all the wheels look a little different but it's not going to matter much after weathering anyway but it seemed like the thing to do.

i don't know if i'm alone here but after a few hours with the airbrush my thumb and index finger are pretty much numb. it'll take me a few days to get over it and i'm still not exactly sure on the camo but i'm pondering on it. love to hear your guys thoughts.

thanks man, going to work on it a bit more this weekend. needs maybe a tad more darker yellow/brown shading and then it's on to the brush painted highlights..... i got my echelon decals in the mail earlier this week and look to be pretty nice. not a huge fan of decals but the zimmerit kinda mades up my mind to go decals and not transfers. anyway, i'll keep you guys posted and thanks for the comments.
