Dak Panzer 2 F - Dml

....................
When this kit came out I took a real fancy to it as the Tamiya Panzer 2 was the first Armour model I built (waaay back in 1973). I felt a bit nostalgic as I have not built one since; then I found it had an interior also so that was that. I haven't done much in the way of post's lately and I thought this might be a good heart starter for me. My BR52 is still on the 'go' but I wanted to do a simple build that would not take to long. This kit is also good enough to virtually build OOTB except for some Gerry racks and such.
I spotted a interesting pick in an 'ye Olde book' by Bruce Quarrie called 'Panzers in the Desert' that added some character to this little fellow, so that is what I will loosley base the look of the tank etc on, though it will not be the same vehicle (I will use decals from the kit).
........

..............................................

I will also skip the whole SBS as I believe everybody is familiar with this kit and just post at various stages of construction. First up the kit in the box.......... lots of stuff and a great decal sheet. I haven't done a DAK vehicle for years.
Can anybody tell me the colors for the interior?
Overall color, transmission, radios etc?

.....................

I will use some of the figures and bits from these two sets.

.................................

I look forward to it but I would hope to see a fair amount of the process- this is what helps out people with their (my) builds.

Good choice Hilly.

The little seen will look great when it's done. Judging by the photo you've got your inspiration from, you'll be able to weather the crap outta it.

Like James said, keep us posted. I've got one as well, and will learn the pitfalls of this kit from your build!

Besides- it's interesting to see how an accomplished modeller such as yourself, Ian, work your way through a project. You have quite a unique style and it would be fun to watch you work , SBS.
PS I have a set of those Verlinden, (and Dragon) figs.

Ian,

Always love your work.
Very interresting idea you have there.
And you're right about the Tamiya PzII, nice kit, but way outdated.
The dragon figures set is great, I'm using it also, sllightly converted though.

Since I'm working on a AfrikaKorps dio too, I'm interrested in your ways of weathering this little beastie.
And how yo're pplanning to use the figures with it.

Keep it up.

Hi Ian,

this will be fun to watch.
The Dragon figure set is pretty cool. I have built it years ago. There's even a small lizzard included, and a skinny dog if I remember well.

OK, you have twisted my arm!

I will try to cover as much of the build as possible, I thought that It would be a bit repetitive after Rick's coverage with his Russian front version.
Also can any body help me out with interior colors?

Smile OK, you have twisted my arm!

I thought that it was built just recently as a Russian front version but I can't remember who.
Don't listen to that idiot above, he thought it was Rick Lawler and I just checked his Vbench and It wasn't.

So then I tried to back track and wipe it and I got this double post - DAH!
I had better get back to the model before I send myself back in time or something.......

James, no problemo, just didn't want to bog things down.

Robert and Axel,
thank you. Yeah that Afrika fig set has some great bits and pieces. I also plan to use a cactus or two from the Mk4E kit. VP figures are nice also but I can't use them all so I will have to be selective which will be hard.

Sheeds,
good to hear from you. Glad you like the scene, I think it should turn out interesting.
And Dwyers moved into a new Villa......'bout time he got off his arse and did some modelling don't you think!

Good to see the little panzer being put to good use Mr Hill.
This is going to be a pleasure to follow.
I've got a very nice Royal model palm tree that would go with this.
Have a good Christmas, talk to you soon.
