Need advice on compressor

Hi!
I went to a big bricolage store two days ago and I found a small portable copressor for just 27. Do you think it is suitable for using an airbrush? And shall I get something to modify pressure?

What type of compressor is it James? You should definitely get a regulator.

How much pressure can you get out of it, and can your fit airbrush hoses to it? Those would be the answers you need.

giacomo ... things you need with a compressor:

- pressure regulator
- moisture trap

bonus feature:

- tank

if you take this compressor i am afraid that you won't get happy with it and very soon will regret to have spent that 27 and will take another one ...

no one will be able to give you good advice on this particular compressor without any further information:

- is it oilless or with oil?
- what is the capacity of airflow?
- how loud is it? (most hardware store compressors are cheap but very loud)
- what type of connectors does it use? 1/8''? 1/4''? (this is a crucial point as this determines the adapters you will need for your airhose)

my advice to you would be to wait a little bit with the compressor if you can't afford one by now and until then operate your ab with a gas can (during operation keep the can warm (not hot) in warm water to ensure that the pressure stays the same for some time - over on armorama a guy explained the whole gas can issue very good ... please have a look over there)

then when you have enough money left for a compressor get one specified for airbrushing

i had (and have) a revell record 3671 without moisture trap (air regulator is an extra part to be bought) ... this is a loud compressor: revell 3671

and this year i switched to a honsell saturn 25:

they both are worlds apart in quality and the honsell is worth each and every cent! best of it - it is a quiet compressor and conversation on normal voice level is possible during operation

r.c. hill bought an euro tec/htc 10a: wich is the very same as the honsell

you can also go for a new revell gamma or some offerings on ebay but i won't take that lil' fella you found ... many ways lead to rome and not always the shortest road is the best - overthink this, sleep over it and then take your decision (maybe have a look into armoramas tools&supplies subforum for inspiration)

i hope this was helpful
