Stug question - mixing DML for Stuh

Hello!

I have the DML Imperial Series Stug III G 10,5 cm kit. I want to make a Stuh 42 with the early upper hull.

As I understand, I need to get the Stug III F kit for that and mix parts with the imperial kit to get the best representation. So do you think it would be reasonable or would the F kit need too much updating to get it looking good?

I'm thinking you want to build one of the early StuHs based on the Stug Ausf F? After checking Achtung Panzer, I think that there is a little more work to it than a simple kitbash. The roof ventilator, and the raised portion of the roof that it sits on is a different size and shape on the StuH. You'll most likely need to rework the roof and do some scratch building.

StuH based on the F were kinda rare. More were based on the F/8 and G. The best kit to start with I would think would be the new tool StuG G for the lower chassis, you will need to modify it of course, but at least you would have a good starting point. Then use the F upper hull and superstructure. Like Evan said you will need to modify the ventilator. For a quick go, just use the F kit and an aftermarket 105mm gun. You will still need to change the ventilator, but that would be all.
