PAGES 2 & 3 - Instruction sheet

Well I managed to do some more over the Xmas / New Year (you can tell what I did on New Years Eve / married with Children).
I got stuck into the interior........nicley moulded but some bits and pieces need to be located correctly. I built up the 3 sub assemblies -floor right wall and transmission, then added the floor but left the other two out for painting.
.................

........................................
..........................

I found that the transmission is so tight a fit that once I had painted it, it was very hard to squeeze back in onto the decking within the walls of the interior. I also found the placement of the radios and cabnets very 'grey' and had to experiment with the upper hull as well to make sure that all fitted correctly. Be careful of the Drivers instuments (c20 step 11) which mount onto the bottom of the upper hull as this interferred with the transmission and I had to file off the mounts so that it would fit correctly.
Asstated by Manuel in his blog, part A35 in Step 8 is to long for the space provided and must be modified. I just cut it short at the small end andadded plastic card and filed. Once again take careful note of position before you glue as the instructions do not give you much to go on.

............
....................
The upper section also had problems fitting and I had to file away at the inner side of the mud guards and diff housing to get the front plate to drop in.
...................
.....................................

I also gave the front sponsons a bit of a bend for effect.
I drilled out the hole for the Radio operators chair as it wasn't there; you will need to look underneath for a hole that doesn't go all the way through!
......................................
Then watch out for the grate on the rear deck as once again the instructions are very bad - it needs to go in the middle with a gap at each end - thanks to Manuel's build again. Also some of the holes for the lifting hooks on the deck were only half formed and needed drilling.
..

See you next up with some paint on the interior.

Great progress Ian!!

I'm looking forward to your paint job.

Don't forget to add the missing bolts to the rear structure (The 3 white ones on the left):

It's a real joy to see someone doing the same kit as youself did.
I just finished mine, so all the steps and problems are still clear in my mind.

Keep it up,
I will follow your SBS with great interest.

Cheers,
Manuel

You're so right Ian,

a large part of the suspension will be visible on this vehicle when the weehls are attached.

Anyway, nice progress and interesting to learn about the kit's /instructions' flaws.

Excellent progress so far, Hilly

I'm getting real tempted to get one of these.
