Type 97 "Chi Ha"

Hello everyone,

This is the FineMolds kit of the Japanese Type 97 Chi Ha medium tank. I'm just getting started with this one and so far I am really enjoying constructing this little fellow.

Not too much to show just yet, but here's a start. As usual construction begins with the wheels and lower hull......

That's it for now. I'll do my best to keep up the momentum....

thanks for looking,
Rick

Hola Rick,

Nice beginning and nice subjet, I think this model in your hands can be a great one.

I'll pay attention with your progress.

Regards.

Greetings Rick!
To me are very interesting Japanese tanks. What version Chi Ha you will do, how on a photo? FineMolds does good models, but I like them to supplement with different additions. Whether will be at this model of addition? Good and pleasant work on model!
All good, Andrei.

Hi guys...and thanks.

No fancy dancing on this project, just a straightforward build. So here we go:

After assembling the upper hull components, most of the detailing is concentrated toward the rear of the vehicle. A small fret of photo etch is included for the muffler guards....

Like I said - nothing fancy on this project, including the tracks. Yep, I'm going with the kit supplied vinyl tracks. The detail on them is pretty good, but they certainly lack the proper appearance of weight, or track sag. To solve this issue I inserted brass pins into the hull to press down the tracks....

When mating the upper and lower hull parts I experience a fairly decent fit issue. Try as I might to make it fit, the upper hull seems to be a couple of mm's too short. I filled the gap with a small strip of Evergreen...

The remainder of the construction is straightforward and proceeds very quickly....here she is ready for paint.....

Thanks for taking the time to look.

Rick

Looks very nice!
How are you going to hide the pins? I can't seem them on the left side, but they are visible on the right.

One thing: You have the hull MG on upside down.
Otherwise a nice build of a really interesting kit.
