Saw The Hurt Locker the other day- pretty solid film. Along the same lines, that is same field of operation, give Generation Kill a shot if you haven't seen it. It's a series but is well worth the investment in time.

Re: Favorite war movies

I was able to see the James Belushi version of Sahara the other day. Not bad, they only changed just a few things in the movie but overall it's a direct re-make of the original.

Dambusters. More information about the raid and the "bouncing bomb" has come out since the film was made....but (for me) this is one of the best

In Which We Serve....based on the exploits of HMS Kelly and Lord Louis Mountbatten.

San Demetrio, London, a wonderful film about the Merchant Navy and the Atlantic convoys.

many of the films already listed too!!

Hehe, Ive rented the original with Bogart just the other day. Good film despite its age and being made during an ongoing conflict.

Also there is anohter movie called Sahare made after a Clive Cussler novell. Its not a war movie but the opening prolog is a break out with a confederat ironclad which is very well done.

Cheers

Not particularly a war movie but a good one which takes place right after WWII in Berlin, staring Clooney, is The Good German.
Another along those lines, a real work of art perhaps, is Judgment at Nuremberg staring Spencer Tracy - one of my faves.
Did I mention Cuckoo. I really like this small film, kinda fun

Watching a Chinese film, Assembly from 2007 about a captain that leads his men in battle during China's Civil War, then fights bureaucracy as a veteran.Pretty good combat scenes.
