Good Advice - thanks.

The thing I struggle with is going for realism... I don't want the thing to look like a piece of plastic - I want whoever is looking at the model to experience Suspension of Disbelief if possible. On the other hand, mud can cover so much of the work that goes into a model!

I scratch built a jack block and bracket. The Tamiya part didn't do it for me.

The kit part and the block I made (left). Brass angle stock miter cut to form the bracket (right).

The Bracket soldered together and a brass strap soldered to the assembly (left). The bracket and block together (next two shots).

The assembly dry-fitted to the vehicle.

Since this last shot, I've soaked the part in Simple Green to remove excess flux and I've applied a coat of primer to prep it for paint.
