Japanese Type 3 "Honi III"

Hi again all,

Right, im determined to attempt a true SBS, utilising the FineMolds Type 3 "Honi III"

Here is the box art...

I'll be building OOB, apart from Barrel and Friuls. Here is the barrel, awaiting Friuls..

For painting I'll use the recommended Mr. Color paint set for the main colours...

and assorted other paints

Reference material is low on the ground. Apart from a few internet based grainy B/W photo's, and internet based hand drawn picture, I only have the following source materials.....

If anyone can recommend further info, ESPECIALY regarding the interior of the 'turret' it would be appreciated

OK, and to work

Started on the really exciting part, the suspension

Final Drives - OK, some flash, but minimal, requiring little clean up. Warning though, there is a lot of lateral movement between the two halves of the Final drive pieces when you come to glue. Be carefull or the sprocket 'teeth' will not line up!

Wheels, again, not to bad, though clean up required (not exactly a 'ridge' line on wheel rubber, as you can see from image below there is a difference in depth, creating a 'step' that needs sanding)...

The 'Wheel Arms' (what would you call them?) have mould lines that need eradicating (in the pic below I have done that on the left hand side, leaving what it is originally like on the right)....

The Wheel 'Arms' are fine from the front....

From the rear they need attention, but, as this cannot be seen when assembled, i wouldn't bother....

My pet hate next, shock absorbers. Why do the sprue attachment points have to co-incide with springs, involving Micro-surgery sanding?????....

Note, one of them was broken prior to removing from the box

Anyway, i will rebuild these later

So, where am I???? Wheels all done and dusted, Final Drives done, Road Wheels done, Idler's done....

More updates to follow.

Thanks for looking
