Quick question. Is Tigers in Combat I by Wolfgang Schneider a worthy reference book or not?

Yes,
I borrowed it from the library as well as TIC 2 and they're awesome books.

I have the paperback version and while the photos aren't quite as "crisp" as the hardback it is a must buy for any Tiger fan.

Absolutely! Buy it and TIC2 now, it's a must have. The PB version has a few less photos and they may not be as 'crisp', but for the price you can't beat it. The combat diarys and tables of deliveries and losses are valuable as well. If you have alot of disposable income, try to find the HB version, but the PB is pretty nice. Another good set of refs is Restayn's Tiger books.

I have TIC 1 AND 2 in hardback and they are a must. Great photo's that link to the actual unit being described, great profiles, painting and engineering change info for each unit's tanks as they went through the war. An absolute bible for tigers !

Good call Mike. FYI, vol I covers 501 through 510, and II covers GD, Hummel, Meyer, Ferhmann, and SS units

If you are in the USA, Amazon.com usually has these for a good price - buy both and you'll get the over $25 free shipping deal.
