Hi guys,

I got a little time over the weekend to get a start on the armor. Looking at the original picture and the reference tractors that have been provided by PA members it seems that they simply slapped steel plates on the existing tractor frame - with the extension to protect the front radiator. That would have been easier!

My intention is not to convert my model tractor to the same make/model as the one in the photo, but rather use the photo tractor simply as a reference point - "the look" if you will. Since my model tractor doesn't have a large cab I would need to build a frame around my tractor in order to hang the armor plates.

Here is a rainy Saturday's work.....

I want my armor to look hastily done and field applied, so I used a file to replicate cut marks on the steel.

First Test Fit...weld marks on the door plates were made from Magic Sculpt. I will be using both putty and sprue to create welds....just to change it up!

and the adventure continues....

another test....

And here we are about 8 hours later.

Next I will make some sort of "cool looking" attachment point where the fellows would have welded the steel frame onto the tractor. The only real issue with this project is that it needs to be kept in components in order to be able to paint it all later.

Thanks for looking.
Rick

Looks great Rick! The first pic is indeed a great starting point to get a feel for how such a conversion would look.

and yes, i love me some tractor (preferably a JD with the quatro tranny or the IVT)
