Alrighty, Sam, since you put the pressure on...

Dan, yes, it slides over the plastic (and I would assume the metal barrel, I don't have it). These are the pieces as they come of the sprue:

And dry fit:

Nice ammo belts and guns in DS-100, M-240 seems petit, but I would say it's in scale:

Two types of drivers hatch (one with the more current reinforced lip):

Seperate NBC hatch (properly shaped) and 'bitch plate' for engine deck:

Rear grill detail:

Beautiful commander's hatch (with seperate clear periscopes):

Two types of blow-off panels:

Strangely just one type of loaders hatch, the reinforced lip one:

VSGL, two types of grenades:

More to follow...

continued: (curse you dial-up!!)

Tow bars and both styles of plastic POL/water cans. This is on a twinned sprue I believe, so you get two bars, extra set of grenade launchers, and x2 cans and ammo cans:

Upper hull detail:

Turret detail with anti-slip:

Two types of drive sprocket rings:

Suspension arms with proper 'crank' in them. The only kit to have them yet, not even the DML Panther II has them:

FBSC 2? (can't remember the proper name off-hand) antennae:

Lower hull sides with accurate additional armour plates and sponsons:

Can't wait for the M1A2 SEP now!!

Cheers,
Jim

Please check other sprues! The other hatch, without the lip is on sprue M!

Also note that you didn't use one important part of the barrel. There is also a hidden part that goes between front and rear sections, under the bore evacuator. It allows the parts to be properly alligned. It is part N56.

By the way, judging from your photos you have relatively early test shots with some short shots and many parts not yet in their final shape with some tooling errors still present. Please DO NOT use these parts to judge the quality and accuracy of final kit.

Oh, one more thing: in fact you get only one tow bar (one sprue has this section cut off), but two exhaust deflectors, two complete sets of smoke launchers, two sets of ammo cans and three sets (one of each type in the set) of jerrycans, as additional third copy of this part of sprue is included.

Wow,
Very nice looking kit! Makes me want to dump my Tamiya M1A1.

Welcome to the Planet Pawel.

I hope it's okay to ask, but does dragon intend to make more Modern tanks such as this? Like a chally 2? or something else like somewhat modern Soviet tanks? That'd be real cool if they did

It will be cool if they re-tooled the T-72s, T-80s, BTR-60, BMP1 and 2, Gaskin etc. Great for dioramas in the Balkans, Chechnya and Middle East.

But I doubt they will unless AFV Club or Tristar releases them.

Unfortunately as far as I know DML don't have plans to release any new modern tank kits other than more variants of M1.

I only hope that they will reconsider if M1 kits sell well.
