5 months and no rain.

Well we have had only 0.2mm of rain (earlier in January) plus some parts of the city have had the odd shower but at the city rain gauger we have only had that much since 20th of November 2009. Five months with the hottest summer on record (didn't feel that hot but it was the overnight temps that gave us the record). It may have been why Terry at PMMS spat it . I only say that in jest .
Anyway now that I live in a place where any bush fire will just about burn out of control, we had the small town of Toodyay mostly burn down and that's where the lads were going for this years ANZAC dawn service (Albany last year) I don't know what we are up to now.

Let me know if the weather in your area of the world is being odd. I like to think we are not at the edge of extinction.

Here in Hungary it is acting strangely: it started heating up late february-early march, then, without any sign of it: SNOW. Snow on the 12t, 13th and then heating up again. Today was pretty nice.

The last couple years have been strange in this area, too. I've lived in and around Chicago for almost 20 years and in 2008 and 2009, it didn't really start to get very warm at all until the middle of June. In fact I was wearing a jacket at last years Independence Day fireworks. It used to be that like clockwork it would be in the Nineties and humid by the middle of June.

I think if there are global climate issues, it could end up that parts of the world may get colder - I think we have been getting more Canadian air and less from the South, keeping things cooler overall throughout the year. I have to admit, however, that this Winter was a cakewalk compared to last Winter and many of them in years past.

Very strange.

Well, while we here slug it out under the big dry the Eastern States look like having the wettest time ever with a cyclone heading for Townsville. Queensland has had a ton of water dumped on it this year and (IIRC the wettest ever) and the dams are full.

I thought today it could rain but nothing at all again.
Thanks for the info guys, nice to know that odd weather is now the norm.

Hi,

here in Estonia, should be spring already. month ago was awful recordbraking of snowing during history. today, it is still tons of snow and weather forecast gives us "hope" -10 degrees celsius in night... quite opposite to Coops surroundings.

Snow! One day I plan to feel it under my feet. I've seen it on the Stirling Rangers 300km south of the city (the play ground of the Australian SAS) and the large town of Albany get frozen water pipes some winters.
In fact one year it got down to 0 overnight in Perth.

I think the "big dry" is coming to an end tonight with a big band of tropical cloud streaming down on us from the north. Tonights news said the we can expect heavy showers over the city. I just hope my poor garden gets some water .
