Dragon, Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.D, 3in1

Well after going back through old threads here at PA I got a twitch in the brain to pull out a kit I'd been holding onto and that's the Pkw.IV/D from Dragon.

There is only 1 trap in the instructions that I've heard of and thats when the PE parts MA25 and MA26 attach to MA44. It should have been noted that MA44 is MA43.

[found before gluing 12/01/2010]
Stage.7, parts J27 and J31 are numbered wrong on both the instructions and the parts tree. Swap them around [J27 under and J31 on top].

[found before gluing 19/01/2010]
Stage.1, part A26 should be swapped with A25. All other parts fit as instructed.

[found before gluing 27/02/2010]
Stage.17, parts D49 and D50 are numbered the wrong way around in the instructions. D50 has the slot in the port cover and that's on the loaders (righthand) side of the turret.

Any help or hints at this point would be very welcome .

Why would the clowns not let people into the tent? What's the point of the show if they don't? .

OK, first hurdle is which variant to build ..............mmmmmmmmmm?
I don't think I want the DAK one so it's the standard or the up-armored D. There are a swag of the up-armored ones and I don't recall to many stock Pkw IV/Ds.
Any ideas out there?

Yeah, do the Ausf. D! It's my favorite in the short barreled IV series.

I'd say do the up-armoured one, I like the up-armoured things!

Yep Johannes, every collection should have one of these in it along with a little Pkw I/A and a Tiger I/E . Also one of every other tank used in WWW II [all sides ] along with a collection of all post-war tanks, hahahaha.
My first wife trashed all the kits I'd built as a young man when I left her [very angry woman ], that was one of every type plus lots of others that looked cool like the M60 . A sad loss to be sure.

I'll stop joking, or crying, and say that this type of IV is my favorite too. All the early war success had the D at it's back bone .
Thanks for looking in mate .

Hi Ropi, thanks for looking in . I like the up-armoured ones too [bigger, stronger, faster ]. The only downside is I can't do the early French Campaign [The Ghost Division!!!] IV/D.
Just a thought and I think most would be used to seeing the up-armoured ones from the Balkans or Barbarossa.

OK, just decided to go with the initial D. It was Russia or France for me and I think there are tanks that are more typical of Russia to me than the D.

The Engine deck pics.
I've never liked the way the glue fills in the area between hatches and the hull on other builds so this time I'm a gonna try this way.

I found that the hatch E6 was sitting up off the deck and I could not get it down without a lot of careful scrapping around the underside rim of the hatch. The idea with the plastic strip's is that there is no leakage of glue and I still get a very Strong, tight fit with both hatches.

Thanks for looking and as always sorry about the poor photos .
