AFV Tiger I Early Tracks

G'day all,
I've been farting around with a few kits to see if I can come up with something like the famous Tiger 123 of the sPzAbt.503 around the time of Kursk. While at it I've added a set of AFV early Tiger Tracks I've not used these before and I have to say they went together fast without to much clean up needed. They look great in the flesh and sorry for the poor photo and when I've finished building the Tiger I'll try for some better shots.

up AFV .

Why would the clowns not let people into the tent? What's the point of the show if they don't? .

BTW, I've only just started doing the kit today so I know that the guard bolt holes need to be done .
Be awear of the MP port on the loaders side of ANY variant of kit using the initial Tiger.
I'll add a quick fire list of mods need to build one of these later [I'm working through things with Chaz to see what's what].
Regards Steve

Hi Ya Coops.....nice looking Tiger. Is this the initial DML kit? Really nice kit.

So I take it you're building this one without the track guards?

How was the fit of the gun barrel?

so many questions so little time...

Nice project...

G'day Paul,
Yep it's the initial kit From DML. Not much wrong with the kit other than the usual things [say no more, eh!].
About specific things like the barrel I can say that it is cosmetically its just fine .
As for questions, feel free to email me [0stevecooper0@gmail.com] .

A few photos [from wiki] of the tank as can be seen at around the time of Kursk. You can got straight after this Tiger as its one of the first 4 received by the 503 late 1942 [it was finished in November with a hull # somewhere just before the famous 250031]. There is a photo of it earlier in 1943 than the Kursk photos and as someone else noted [Chaz] the tank was given a replacement turret after the Kursk shots [the white-washed tank with the dark background around the numbers].

Hi Coops!
Looking nice, but.. the guy reminds me Michael Wittmann
I saw a photo about him once, in the exact same position, sitting on his barrel...
nice work again.

Thats him parked up all right . He cuts an impressive figure sitting a top his mount [p.93, TIGERS ON THE WESTERN FRONT].
Now he's a fictitious tank commander on a Tiger in mid 1943 not far from Kursk .

I'll try and get the photo thing working and put in a proper vBench.

Hiya Coops.....thanks for posting the photos.

If I'm not mistaken wasn't there some deception on the part of the Germans regarding the markings on their tanks at Kursk?

I seem to remember reading that a long time ago somewhere. The deception was the way they marked the numbers and unit identifiers to confuse the Russians as to the exact forces present at the battle.

Is that a weld on the side of the turret in the next to last photo (triangular shape on lower turret side)? Never seen that before...... Or just a tow cable?

Between the bottom right-hand corner of the number 3 and the upper most point on the mesh screen?
The texture is not the same as the areas around it. Do you think it could have been a plug added to a penetration? One thing we know is that by the end of the year the turret on this hull had been replaced with a later one.

G'day Alan, yep this photo.
If you look close just above that bent up screen and to the lower side of the "3".
