hi guys, been ages since i posted on PA or in this build log so thought i'd check in. didnt' lose my interest in modelling or anything but unfortunately my father passed away back in June and i put pretty much everything on hold for a while including modelling. just now kinda get back into some semblance of normalcy and i picked up on this build a few weeks ago. i'll try to get some new pics posted over the weekend and show you what i've been up to but just wanted to let you guys know i hadn't given up on it despite the long lull.....

Ok guys, as promised here's an update. I've been working primarily on the running gear and suspension. Since this is depicting a vehicle in russion with ostketten tracks it's gotta be a bit grimmy so I decided to jump in and dirty it up accordingly. Started out bit a plain layer of pigments and then went over that with a mixture of pigments, plaster, dirt, grass, etc.. and mudded it up. added some darker pigments to the mix and put on a bit here and there and then thinned it to a liquid and applied it all over to blend the two colors. proceeded then to add some gloss to it and dab at it again. After that I worked with the wet effects and oil and grease to add some moisture and grime to various areas. tracks were done in a similar fashion so that it all blends together. may touch it up a bit here and there but it looks the part to my eye. muddy and wet but not super muddy so as to detract from the look i was after. schurtzen covers up most of this anyway but i was working with a lot of new stuff so i wanted to see what i could do with it. anyway, without further delay, here are some pics.....

love to hear your thoughts as always. thanks for looking.

oh love it! lovely color of mud...
but i would add juuust a bit more mud to ostketten on inner side since you got quite a bit of mud on wheels and lower hull and only way those could get dirty is if mud went over the tracks (and of course when mud fells from above)
+ wheels don't reach that far out to "clean" mud of the tracks as tank drives...
of course that's just my opinion... i could be wrong since i we don't know whole story behind this model (=

Thanks for the encouragement guys. As for the photos.... I'm using a Nikon D80 with a homemade photo booth (pvc framework with white curtain liner fabric draped over it) with shop lights and desk lamp providing light. Same thing they try to sell you at photography stores except mine was very cheap

Very Cool. Which lens is that? I have a D40 myself and just use the cheapo 18-55 it came with.
