tiger fenders

hi all.. i need some help, i keep looking at tiger photos (late) and i don't get it...
were front fenders/mud guards thick or were they thin and had edge folded down?
they look thick but when they are damaged they have that hard edge damage of thin metal...
here it looks like some kind of edge

and side skirts did they had that triangular support on every piece or just on first and last one?
thank you

One should be vary of using modelling supplies for reference, but if we assume that Aber has done their homework, there are three supports per side skirt:

"For everyone else, thin, edge folded down"

Hi,
I'm not sure the front mudguards and flaps were folded. I know PE makers construct them that way.. But
After checking out photos; for certain the mudguard was made from a flat sheet of plate riveted and bolted (through the hinges) to a angle iron frame.
The mudflap was constructed the same way, I'm only not sure if the outside edge of the mudflap had a fold or not.
Photos also show the frame was 'stitch'-welded to the plates, though I'm not precisely sure where and how much.

This is how I think they were made:

A photo showing the frame work missing/torn off,
and one with it hanging loose:

..and on this photo from David Byrden's site you can see the join at the front of the mudguard:

HTH,
Grant.

oh this last BW pic is nice (= reminds me of pizza box
quite complicated fenders when compared to panther i would say...

maybe someone knows if tow cables and tools were removed when field camo was applied?
i have those pictures of king tiger being sprayed and cables look camo-ed but everyone is painting them black/dark...
damn'em germans... couldn make anything simple for us...

The way Grant describes the construction of how the front fenders are assembled, is how you assemble them using Aber etch in 1/16 also. And it no doubt is the way it was done with the original too.

"Folded" was a poor word choice.

The question originally was, were the mud flaps thick or thin.
