Panzer IV Ausf. D

Almost ready.
My latest model.
Tamiya Panzer IV Ausf. D
Straight out of the box, Tamiya paints, weathering with washes and pastels.
Figures are from ICM.
Diorama base is plywood. Plaster covered foam.
Painted and covered with Woodland Scenics turf and static grass.

Hopefully the figures will be finished this weekend.
I'll post more pictures soon.
Comments are welcome and as always please be honest.

Hi.
May I suggest that you do not let the tracks as they are ?
IRL they're not likely to be "black" but more like "earth and rust".

Be careful with the rust on tracks. If tanks is in running order it don't collect much rust on tracks.

agree with previous posters regarding a bit more earthy tone to the running gear and may I suggest may a bit of earthy airbrushing/pigments to the base as well to blend the two together. You've got some good bits to work with, just needs a little tweaking to make a scene out of it.

I'm going with a more dusty appearance than a muddy one, that's why I didn't use darker colors.
Also pictures are a little dark and is hard to see colors, I'll try to get better pictures of the tank alone.

i like the way Tom Cockle paints his tracks with "dark earth" then adds the pigments and washes. As said above, very little rust indeed.

Small update

Some pics of the figures in progress.
I know the eyes look weird, I always have problems with the eyes.
Working on it. Suggestions are welcome as always.

JJ...

Try a little Light Blue to the "White" area of the eyes...very light blue. Nice uniform painting, it looks like acrylic paint as it dries very "flat".

Nice start.....also tone down the pistol holster with a "Black Wash" as many holsters were dyed black by the Germans, the red brown looks too stark.

Hope this helps...

Paul
