The best way to measure paints is to go to your local pharmacy or medical equipment shop and buy small liquid medicine cups. They are cheap, and can be cleaned up if you ate using Tamiya paints.

If you want it to look really good, paint it overall panzer gray first. Many of the DAK stuff came from Europe and was hastily painted yellow. What i'd do is take salt and warm water and mix it...

Back when I started to build I could pick up a 1/48 scale WWII fighter by Monogram for $1.48. That same exact kit today runs $13.00 (or more). I could pick up most 1/35 scale armour kits for ~$15.00....
