Hello...hello....hello!!!

Well the dust is starting to blow through here .
I've been preoccupied with events in my life and haven't been able to give much time to the hobby.
This place is number one on my list of sites so I'll try and get back here more often :thumb:.

The reason for this post is if we don't write in there is nothing to read ;).

Seems like everyone is playing "Maybe-you-don't-see-me,-but-I'm-here-afterall", or "I-was-gone,-but-now-I'm-back"...

Now, now :).
I see it's not just here that's got a slump going on. Other places around the net are falling off a bit too.
I'm not jaded or burnt out, I just don't have the time I need to open the box with the Pz IV/D in it and get going. I'm not sure where I was up to even, LOL.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it :).

Hi guys...you are not alone!

I'm here as well...silently watching while other work. Believe it or not I'm very busy with models/modeling, but it's just that the things I am working on can't be shown on the public forums. I guess that's what happens when you make your hobby your career?

Keep the faith, baby!

Rick

Hey Rick, You know what they say "careful what you wish for". It was probably your building on the public forums that got you the gigs and now they don't want you using them. They probably think it will adversly effect their magazine sales when in actuality the opposite is what would probably happen. You going to Nats? I'm sure you will be at McMinville. Will see you there.

Roy

Hi Roy,

Good to hear from you. Building for publication is only part of the game these days - I am very lucky.

Yep...I'll be at Nationals - representing MIG USA as a vendor and also hosting a seminar on Friday - topic pigments/weathering.

...and of course McMinville.

Hot days.....Sleepless nights

best,
Rick

Ok...here's a "little" something that I worked on this past year. This is a 1:1 scale replica of the Mars Rover(s), Spirit and Opportunity that are on the Red Planet right now doing experiments. This sits about 3.5 feet tall and has a span of about 7 ft on the solar panels. Constructed from wood, plastic, resin/casting, wire, foil....etc., whatever it took to make it look as real as possible.

We built 2 of these simultaneously over about 1 years time, both are now on exhibits at museums.

Not all of the projects that I work on are this large and involved....but it is modeling. Thanks for your interest and maybe I'll post a few more "off topic" projects in the near future.

Best,
Rick

G'day Coops,

FWIW I visit the site a few times daily, just checking in on what everyone's posting and working on :) I've a new addition to the family, a 3 month old daughter, so there's not much benchtime these days.

Rick,

Wow! That's awesome, mate! Is that through Masterpiece?

Rudi :)

Rick, Dude, you're very talented and have stick-to-it-ivness, it has nothing to do with luck- we make our own luck! That Rover looks pretty nice, and something close to my heart as I was originally into space models when I came back into the "hobby" back in the mid-nineties.

Glad to see you are having some fun projects.
