tiger wreck 1/48

1 Attachment(s)
AFV 1/48.. everybody knows it, lovely thing
first time big surface scratch building such as skirts...

used knife and sandpaper for zimm damage, glued tow cables to simulate gravity and did some damage on mud guards and storage box
http://shrani.si/f/27/NO/2cK1mBxo/dsc00561.jpg
skirts mounting part was cut away and glued, then metal parts glued to it.. not perfect but for first time..
http://shrani.si/f/3J/jZ/4l999yov/dsc00565.jpg
also added supports for every part that can be seen because of battle damage (little triangular ones)
http://shrani.si/f/2i/VE/3TdTlT11/dsc00579.jpg
"beer guards" :thumb: and more zimm damage
http://shrani.si/f/1l/sc/1J3ArH2c/dsc00581.jpg
fist coat, no primer as always, nice thin enamel so that dark plastic bellow leaves shadows
http://shrani.si/f/3t/sg/2iFNZ0ky/dsc00656.jpg
second coat, a bit more sandish and less yellow but not everywhere, something like modulation with single-action
http://shrani.si/f/3O/BD/3PANphUK/dsc00696.jpg

http://shrani.si/f/1z/RO/48FhU3PB/dsc00688.jpg

http://shrani.si/f/2U/yl/37TivbMb/33.jpg

so far i like it, quite satisfied for bicycle pump powered "foot-action airbrush"
now i need to decide about camo...

tnx for watchin =)

p.s.
how do you guys make your pics smaller?
i use picture scale in gimp2 but it seems that it messes up some of detail even if i save it as best quality and everything

junxter 04-07-2012 06:07 PM

Dude, looking great!

AWD

KuKŁiNsKi 04-08-2012 04:30 PM

thank you alexthegreat =)
what do you think my friend.. should i spray light coat of tan over it to make it lighter or
use only pigments/pastels?

alexwencho 04-08-2012 06:40 PM

You can lighten up with the earthtone pigments. Start gettin' some pin-washes and pick out the small details. Dry brushing and such. Emphasize the cool looking cammo.

Take your time. This is the 'fun' part. Have fun my brother.

RAWK!

KuKŁiNsKi 04-09-2012 04:29 PM

some more progress
first i sprinkled some paint spots with finger from brush, then dry brushed zimmerit and areas that were walked on
next was light color chipping with hard brush and then detailed with thin brush, painted zimmerit damage
after that i was time for dark chipping and scratches.. all made with knife
on some big chipps pencil was used to get some shinning effect
some areas are scratched a bit too much but that will get fixed with pastel and all that

hope you like it

Great Progress:cool:

KuKŁiNsKi 04-12-2012 11:03 AM

thank you sir =)
do you think i should do more washing? on zimm maybe..?

Pvt Mutt 04-12-2012 12:55 PM

Ski I never tell anyone how their armor should look. I found out real fast that
since the crews set up their ride to suit their needs and applied most of the camo in the field you can never say what is wrong or right unless you are building a specific example of a particular tank with photo evidence.

You can look at my models and see how I prefer them. It's your model so build it to suit you and be happy with it. That's the best advice I can offer.

Tony the Mutt

KuKŁiNsKi 04-12-2012 01:07 PM

heh =) yea i like the way you build your models
i was just asking for advice not so much "telling how to do" something =)
more and more i look at it i think i'll wash that zimm just a little bit

Pvt Mutt 04-12-2012 01:59 PM

That's what I would do as well. The wash would bring out the texture of the zimm more but don't get carried away and get it too dark.:thumb:

BBD468 04-13-2012 08:27 PM

Your Tiger is looking awsome man! I agree with Tony, you aplly that wash and that thing is gonna pop. It will definately be worth it. like he said, not too much though. Well done Kix!:D

KuKŁiNsKi 04-15-2012 08:23 AM

tnx =)
little update...
tracks fitted, zimm washed a bit... lost of earth on tiger as if some bad ass fighting was going on and allies walking on it inspired by bocage and italy photos..

lower part a bit too clean so i'm working on that, just not sure about metal effect on tracks.. should i cover it a bit with dust?
what do you guys think...
