Some scratch built models updated again

Hello every one

I have added more pictures of new scratch built LVT's on my web page.

It has been a while since I last posted. On my new web page you will find some updates and some new in progress scratch builds like the T1E1 mine exploder, LVTRA1 recovey, LVTH6 howitzer, LVTXXA1 with the M19 Duster turret, M26 soft cab and the M15A1 trailer.

Photoshop does not work any more.

Constructive Comments are welcomed in case I missed something because of
limited resources . I'm still looking for detailed pictures of the vehicles listed above.

Enjoy

Ralph

Outstanding Work Ralph!!

Now you have skill! Are those all in 1/35 scale? They look fantastic, especially the mime plow and rollers. That is some of the best work I have seen as far as scratchbuilding.
Sadly I donít have any pictures of those vehicles, but by all means keep up the good work.

Dave

mech 01-04-2007 03:43 PM

Hi Dave

Thank you very much for the compliment. They are all 1/35 scale. I like to scratch build and I rarely put a finish paint on them and I have never built a dio. You do build one great dio. the Schwimmwagen Diorama.

Cheers
Ralph

David Diaz 01-04-2007 05:53 PM

Good evening Ralph,
Hope all is well. Its impressive that they are all 1/35 scale! I like to do as much scratch building myself and at times I feel kind of sad that I have to paint the models. :D , I just try to take pictures of them without paint.
You should give it a try and make a diorama. Its feel is actually an extension of scratch building a model since I make everything in my bases. Itís a lot of fun especially when you spend time looking for photos of structures and small details for you to build.
I also like the fact that your subjects are not very common vehicles, its actually good to see something different every once in a while. If you ever want to scratch build an M1 Abrams or a Hummer, let me know I got a lot of photos of them. Ha! I practically lived inside them for 8 years!

Anyways, thanks for the compliments on the VW dio. It was a lot of fun to build. I hope to see more scratch built models from you.

Take care

Dave

Nice Work

Hey Ralph,

Very, very nice work. I've been trying to do much of the same stuff. Any chance you've got any extra moldings of the LVTH6 or the LVTE. You could make a few bucks with a few extra parts.

Been working on multiple riverine craft - ASPB, Swift boat, 2 different monitors - all in 1/35th. Throw in a couple of PT Boats and an Aliens Dropship (also all in 1/35th), and an LVTP5, and I've got my hands full. Would love some conversion parts.

Super scratchbuiliding.:thumb: I always liked the look of a white scratchbuilt kit.

Driver 01-30-2007 08:25 PM

Outstanding work Ralph! Boy, I'm green with envy!!!!! :D Are you using styrene only or are you using some other materials?

mech 01-31-2007 08:16 PM

Hi DaveF, Lawrence and Driver

Thank you very much for the compliments.

DAveF when I built the LVTE1 and the LVTH6 I did not have in mind to mass produce them. So it would be very hard to cast them in resin now. Your boats sound very interesting. Do you have pictures of them posted on a web page so that I can see them.

Driver I use copper, aluminum, brass, lead in foil sheets and rods and a lot of styrene sheets, rods and tube.

Best regards
Ralph

Pacv

a couple of the boats (Pt's) are up somewhere - I think in Armorama. But if you do a web search, you'll see a PACV hovercraft that I scratch-built in 1/35th. Just look for PACV diorama.

mech 02-12-2007 04:33 PM

PACV diorama

Hi David

I finally saw your diorama and it looks great. Do you have any pictures of your scratch build and drawings? Some day I would like to scratch build one as well.

Best regards
Ralph

once more, nice work ! congratulations.

in time...in that pic http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/...00085745nritrJ , iīm a question to you. Do you have a spare tire of that model ? I need ONE to make a Master Mold to resin cast.

mech 01-11-2009 05:54 AM

wheels or tracks

Hi Fernando

Thank you very much for the compliment.

The wheel that you whant is from the Tamiya Dragon wagon with trailer or the Tractor recovery has it as well front wheels. I have no spare wheels, sorry. Check to see if any one local has these kits.

I would like to see you scratch build. Any way you can post a link for me?
I saw a picture of one with water jets on the back that looked similar to an M113 with a lot of modification done to it.

You seem to have two queastions for me. Can you please clarify on my email.

Hi Ralph, my scratchbuilt will find in http://www.planetarmor.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5829

The Brazilian APC Engesa EE-11 Urutu . Enjoy and feel free to comment.
About the tires, thanks a lot ! I will try to find a spare.:)

by the way...the other question is about the tracks of LVT3 . I saw your albums, in Webshots. Simply amazing ! What materials are used to make that tracks ?

mech 01-23-2009 04:28 AM

LVT3 tracks

Hi Fernando

Your scratch build looks great. I have never built to 1/16 scale.

The tracks on the LVT3 are on there temporary they are from the LVT4, until I scratch the actual ones. I have to change the front sprockets and the rear idlers as well. I know how to scratch the track but do not know how to use resin to cast sections.

Best regards,

Ralph

Mech, your scratch work is excellent. I look forward to seeing all of the other scratch builder's work as soon as I can.
I'm new to this Forum so that's why it's taken me so long to respond.

more updates

Hi everyone

I have posted more pictures on my webpage. I have received more detailed pictures of real vehicles and I went back and started to detail them.

I need to take some time to organize my scratch builds into their own folders when I finger out how to do it.

I'm still looking for detailed pictures of any experiment LVT's or field modified LVT.

I'm looking for someone who has access to Camp Barstow that can take detailed pictures of the old experimental LVT's that have been moved there stored there.

Cheers,

Ralph

Scratch built WTCT6 Amphibious Trailer that I did a long time ago and needs some wing nuts to finish it. I finally found some.

Hi everyone

I just updated my web page with two new scratch builds.
http://s1301.photobucket.com/user/sc...?sort=2&page=1

T84 203mm or 8 inches SPG

This is the start of my scratch builds.
T16E1 tracked wagon for the 240mm Howitzer that was used in the Philippines.
T17 front and the T17A1 rear tracked wagon for the 240mm carriage.

I'm hoping to scratch build the two howitzers and the carriage. It is going to take along time.

I'm still looking for detail pictures of the tracked wagons.

Ralph

Hi everyone

I have updated my web page with more pictures of in progress work on the US M1 240mm Howitzer and the M1 203mm Gun (howitzer). I have also updated the T16E1 tracked wagon with more in progress pictures.

I ordered the t51 tracks and duckbills that I require for the wagons and it's going to be about 1850 pieces to assemble. That is going to take a long time to assemble the tracks. I'm hoping they will arrive before Christmas.

Cheers,

Ralph

Hi Ambjoern

Thank you very much for the compliment. I love scratch building subjects that interest me and can not be purchased in plastic when I have time to work it.

Keep checking I have lots of in progress pictures to up load on my web page.

Photobucket was giving me problems the last time I tried.

I'm impressed with your builds.

Happy modeling,

Ralph

amba 07-04-2017 01:29 PM

Hi Ralph,

yes, photobucket has recently changed their approach about linking from another website to your photos hosted by them. It wont work anymore.. You can see it in many forums right now where people try to post their photos.

Here is what Mike Walsh did in another thread here on PlanetArmor:

"I joined 3 image server providers. Image Shack, Flickr and Imgur."

mech 07-09-2017 08:46 AM

Hi Ambjoern

that's the same reason I have been delaying posting my photos on Photobucket. I have been seeing the problems modellers are having on other forums no picture link.
The new format stinks and you can not enlarge the pictures any more and any time you click on the pictures you get more advertising the photo stream locks up after 3 pictures.
Years ago I was with Photoshop and they went private and kept all my pictures without any notice of the change.
I will have to check out what Mike Walsh is using. I'm not looking forward to posting all my photos again.

Cheers,

Ralph

Some scratch built models updated again

Hi everyone

I have been delaying my updates for a while now because of the problems with Photobucket. If you go to my web page you can still see the in progress work but I did not updated it to the stage that I'm at right now.

I do not know how may pictures that I can post here from my computer and if it works.

M113 MTBA used in Vietnam.

I tried and it said with one picture I'm over my quota, so sorry no pictures.

Unless some one can tell me how I can attach pictures without going over my quota.

Cheers,

Ralph
