Goi'n Loco - Br52 Build

................http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...2/IMG_4260.jpg
Well I finally got my train on Friday last week and imediately vowed to finish my other stuff before starting this monster. Well I lasted exactly 7 days............I 'm doing it anyway! Here are some open box shots - 710 parts spread out over 15 sprues + a pe sheet.

A nice color profile comes as a painting guide and the usual trumpeter instruction 'book'.
The model starts with the chassis and buffers and that is as far as I have got at this point.

2-10-0-tastic! Looking forward to a SBS on this one Ian, if that's what you're planning.

Did you see that French modellers detail-up of the cabin? Amazing.

Ian

That looks awesome! Did the chassis come molded in one piece?

Can't wait for your next update

Oh come on Ian, finish the StuG! Seriously, this looks really awesome and I look forward to seeing your progress. Like Andrew mentioned, that French guy did a hell of a job on the cabin. I think I might have the pics somewhere if you haven't seen them.

Step 3

Hi everyone, I did a little more today but first the posts............
Larry, Rollem', rollem', rollem', keep them doggies goin'......
Andrew, yes an SBS and looks like those pics you mentioned turned up.2-10-0-tastic, you obviously know a bit about trains?
Lawrence, I skipped showing the initial page so I will stick it here. The chassis was in a number of parts.
..............................http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...2/IMG_4267.jpg
Evan, thanks anyway........I will get back to the Stug. I will do it in between the different stages of this one.:-)
James, thanks for the excellent photo's that everybody was talking about. That looks awesome! I don't know that i will go that far but I can certainly use the pictures to add extra detail to the cab.
I am still thinking about brass and will probably get 2 of the voyager sets. I will also add some scratch bits where needed.
I am up to STEP 3 in the kit which centres around adding the bracing and supports for the boiler onto the chassis.
..............................http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...2/IMG_4269.jpg
Trumpter still have a bit to learn with their instructions and I have learnt the hard way to really look carefully as they only give a approx. spot for gluing on some parts and they never warn you if a part is slightly different and must go one way only , as in partD43. This rod in sub assembly F must have the longer cut on the pipe to the right. Also parts F3 have a slight groove that they fit into but there are no markings on the side of the chassis. Nicely molded bolt detail though.
..............................http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...2/IMG_4274.jpg
Also I found all of the horizontal braces to fit perfectly except A28. I had to trim off about 1.2 ml as it was to long for the space.
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...2/IMG_4270.jpg..........................
And here is a picture of the brake detail from sub-assembly F that fits about half way down the chassis rails.

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...2/IMG_4276.jpg
........................http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...2/IMG_4277.jpg
NEXT I WILL GO OVER THE INJECTION MARKS WITH FILLER.
Hi Siim........nearly missed you there at the end.
I am back to the hospital with my son this week so I will post what I can get done. See ya soon.
Thanks again James for the great Cabin super detail photo's.

Wow....me wants!!

Nice progress so far Ian. How much glue you used already? :)

lquah 10-01-2006 01:39 PM

That's one big and complex build :)

I was in the LHS today and checked the prices of the Voyager PE sets. The basic set is HKD168, Steifrahmentender is HKD108 and the Tram is HKD98.
