HI! More updates on the front gun…
The remaining links are constructed

Front link, it measures 12.5mm long x .040”

With a .040” disk and a piece of wire I made a pin to connect the front link to the gun bead, here the front link is installed in place

Next the center link is constructed, it measures 12.8mm long x .040”
http://i.imgur.com/aZ78UAj.jpg
I forgot to add the two adjusting nuts so I had to cut it in 3 parts to add the verlinden resin nuts
http://i.imgur.com/titXKx0.jpg
Now it looks like this
http://i.imgur.com/fZBXTCO.jpg
The rear link is now constructed, I used a piece of PH left over to make the upper part, the metal part measures 4.4mm long each side x 1.8mm wide. The styrene rod measures 2.5mm long x .040. I placed a piece of wire in the center of the metal part so it has a strong bond with the styrene rod

http://i.imgur.com/hPE9vtN.jpg
Here the rear link is in place and is then connected to the center one, it all is workable now

Fledermaus 06-30-2011 05:55 PM

Finally got the time to continue working on the boat, the front gun is finally completed, some of the parts of the linkage where modified in length so I went back in the post and corrected it, the new numbers are in red to make it easy to identify. This is how I think the gun was from the few photos I found….
The outer ring got the rivets detail from Archers set
http://i.imgur.com/VydNQYk.jpg
Also the gun basket received rivets from Archer and a styrene door plus some other details
http://i.imgur.com/pbBthtQ.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/IhrrFBg.jpg
The ring for the gun mount is constructed with a piece of styrene measuring 3.5mm width by 111mm
Long
http://i.imgur.com/oRYzVeS.jpg
The mount for the gun is removed from the original part as is the long back cushion, this are then
Glued to the new ring

http://i.imgur.com/6HXc2HV.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/XcYWIm5.jpg
Two pieces of styrene measuring 3.5mm width by 14mm long are glued to the sides, then the lower
Parts are added, finally 3 triangles that works as reinforcements are glued to each side, this are now
The bases for the lower support tube for the gun frame

http://i.imgur.com/2Nz2a75.jpg
This is how it looks finished and in place
http://i.imgur.com/seU04ul.jpg
I moved to the gun balance spring, it was made with fine cooper wire and plastic
http://i.imgur.com/UxLvJHB.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/OX0bSuG.jpg
Here the parts that hold the spring are installed,
http://i.imgur.com/bEsZzyz.jpg
Finally the spring is glued in place
http://i.imgur.com/yxY5DTT.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/pMiACbd.jpg
The square on the bottom of the gun cage is removed and sanded so it has a better fit when glued to the lower frame tube

The cross member tube was made with .060 tube in the form of a V, it was then glued to the bases on the ring and to the gun cage. This is the only picture I found of this area so what I did is mi guess
Of How it should look
http://i.imgur.com/IhcmCFp.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/tdt3ahI.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/SI3Uzeb.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/8OyDoQR.jpg
The last parts are two more tubes that runs from the sides of the cage to the cross tube on the bottom
This are angled so it fits in place, this are also .060 tube

http://i.imgur.com/FgJUp2P.jpg
The gun sight is glued and the reinforcement L shaped tube is glued to the sight holding arm
