Haven't seen to many of the classics, but my favorites of the modern era would be Black Hawk Down and Band of Brothers. Tears of the Sun isn't too bad, and you can't go wrong with Where Eagles Dare.

People hate me for it. But The Thin Red Line is still one of my favs.

Kelly's Heroes for the not-that-serious part (I'll also be interested by the new Tarantino film: Inglorious Basterds...), and Saving Private Ryan (and I also like Band of Brothers very much, although it's not a single film).

For me it would be A Bridge Too Far. I seen it at least a dozen times and still love it.

My all time favorite, despite being a bit older, is "The eagle has landed". And the novell is good as well...

Just watched a movie with the guy who plays the latest Bond, in a movie called Defiance. It had some scenes with a mocked up Panzer
