These photos were found by myself last year while pouring through after action reports at the USMC historical center. They show damage LVTs sustained while assaulting the beaches in the Marianas campaign. I found a similar set of photos for LVT1's at Tarawa.

This LVT(A)-4 is interesting because in the original print, which is rather contrasty, the camoflauge was not visible. After a few minutes of working on a high resoultion scan in Photoshop, the details come to life. It seems that lots of field applied camo was used in the Pacific during WWII.

Can you say "OUCH"!!! This is a rather shot up LVT(A)-1.

Another LVT(A)-4, notice that the penetrations on the top side of the cab came from inside the vehicle.
I am preparing a rather loooonngggg article on the LVT(A)-4 for a magazine article that will be published later this year. The article will contain a couple dozen of these photos and some color plates.
