Hello all, I need to know the color of the Ford Engine installed in the M26 Pershing. I am working on the Verlinden set and need the help. Thanks in advance for any and all help, Joel Smith

Joel,

I used this site when researching details for my Pershing builds (I'm on my second one)...
MANUALI TECNICI (http://www.ferreamole.it/indici/index_tm.htm)

I painted the engine black and the trannie white.

Here's a shot of the engine/trannie...

Tim, thanks for the help. Sorry for the delayed reply, now, I am amazed that I didn't catch this before! According to the Verlinden instructions, you in stall the air cleaners in the engine compartment. However, while perusing my references, (Squadron Pershing/Patton In Action, Osprey M26/M46, and Darlington Productions M26 Pershing), I noticied that the air cleaners are in the FIGHTING COMPARTMENT!! Is this an example if "imagineering" or what? Meanwhile, I guess I will bend some tube or sprue to lenghten the air intake tubes. Thanks again for the help, Joel

Hi,

If I'm not mistaken, aren't air cleaners IN the engine compartment as in this pic?

This is interesting as Calibre35 also has rather good looking engine set:
http://www.calibre35.cz/35017.htm. I can't see possible air cleaners in that set but those should be under engine?

Niko. on page 22 of my copy of Darlington Productions "M 26 Pershing Mediun Tank", shows the air cleaners inside the fighting compartment just under the turret ring, The photo also shows the aux engine control panel and the main engine primer, now I cant imagine these items being the turret. but hell, I could be wrong! Thanks very much for your input, Joel Smith.
