Cleaning PE thats on a kit in progress?

I know we are supposed to clean the PE parts prior to painting due to fingerprints, oils etc. that get on them, but Im wondering how this is accomplished when the parts are on the kit while its being finished (partially painted kits at that in some cases). I got to thinking that maybe I could use alcohol and a small brush to 'paint' the parts and allow them to airdry? Any ideas are welcome.

Hi Steve, painting the with a little alcohol sounds ok. Just be super careful that you don't break them off. Sounds like your in the home straight now and only the little bits to distract you lol.

Use vinegar. The reason to clean the parts is to remove oxidation so soldering is easier and paint sticks better. Alcohol will clean the dirt, but won't touch the oxide. Acid works much better, and vinegar won't harm anything but decals.

I suppose a vineager bath to the whole PE-sheet prior to assembly would be the best way, right ?

Scott and Coops, thanks for the advice! Vinegar it is then. Coops, no, no home stretch...just working a lot and trying to fit in time for everything else but I wish I was working on my kit more! The little PE bits Im currently bedeviled with are the little, I guess hooks? above the air intake covers on the PZ IV. They have such a tiny point of attachment that if you breathe on them, Im sure they will pop right off. Is there any better way to secure them other than CA?

a pair of real good tweezers. a brand new bottle of super glue, and the patience of a saint and dont forget to make an offering to the carpet monster.
