Need: Panther Part Clarification

Are 1 and 2 the same thing but just different because of the tank difference? Are they spare track clamps? what is their purpose? How do they fit/work?

I am trying to 3D model a panther and have been trying to figure out what they are to get a good reference for them.

I'm not sure I understand what you ask for but ... yes these two are spare track links but they're quite different in shape and size.
On the Panther the links are held with "U" shaped brackets, six of them for three rows of track links when the Pz IV links are held with two bars that run across three links.

If I'm not mistaken they server not only for extra tracks (like a spare tire) but also as additional armor. That area is around the fuel cells is it not ?
