German Radios

One question is it okay to paint the radios under the dash body color or should they be black?

I don't think "black" neccessarily, a dark grey more like. But these units were seperate and I 'd say rarely painted the interior colour of the vehicle.

I would have painted them with body color but as I think of it, radios are installed afterwards. Dark grey makes sense. How about field radios, those carried on some poor soldier's back? Was it also always dark grey or after -43 Dunkel Gelb?
