hi Guys !!!
i've begun my new project today ... i found that the casting texture on the turret was horrible (i will totally rework the one on the top hull too as it was not made of casted metal !)
so here is the result after about 2 hours of work :
a perfectly smooth roof and a more realistic casting texture (to my eyes at least !)

the big welding seam will have to be done after completion of the turret interior !
cheers

Superb! :thumb:
How did you accomplish the texture?

hey Gordy, thanks for the words !
the texture have been worked from plastic glue first, sanded and then i apply a mix of tamiya putty thinned with plastic glue and aceton thinner. i do this with a pop-cycle stick to obtain a very rough look. once dry a little bit of sanding and that's done ! :)
cheers

I'm doing similar job on my Tamiya t-34/76 M43 with the welded turret using Mr diluded putty with weathering powder mixed in for texture
good luck on your model.....serpico

Hi Franck,
sounds quite smelly combination:D Hopefully you have a well ventilated workroom! That turret looks fantastic. As I look my T-34/85 projects(in 1/72 scale), maybe I should do something for them, too;)
Cheers,

hi guys !
thanks for the comments !
today i've done some more base work on the T34/85 ... you know how i am : i can't keep a model looking like all brand new
so i've redone a fuel canister from copper foil :
http://www.scaled-panzers.com/t34/fuel.jpg
and i'm working now on the fenders :
http://www.scaled-panzers.com/t34/fens.jpg
i will work too on the rear cylindrical smoke dispensers but those ones will be done from lead foil as i need to keep some stamped shapes in them ...
cheers

Hey Markus
Thanks for the kind words buddy !!!
Today i've finished another fuel canister (less damaged than the other one !)
but the main progress was tonight ... it has been quite long to finish the toolbox but i'm pleased with the result once in place :)

i gues that, like me, you will love it Andy, and thanks for the words.
now for the progress on this beast :
a little idea of the size it has ??? no ??? well look below :
http://www.scaled-panzers.com/t34/scale.jpg
as you can see this is HUGE !
i've cut off the fenders and rear mudguards so i can say that now the big part is done, Let's build the beast !
on this point i have decided (but things can change ... as always) to do it closed so i will let the interior in the box (did i hear "chicken" ??? ;) ) ... i know i know it's a pity but .....
anyway i'm planning to build the engine and transmission as a stand alone kit because i find that it should have the exposure it deserves :)
cheers

Franck, fantastic start!
The fuel canister is amazing!! As well as the storage box. How do you manage to make the parts look so good? Any chance of a nice step-by-step??
I have just started working with brass, and my results look like a two year olds compared to yours.
I am a bit bummed though that you have decided to leave out the interior. :(

Hi Stuke !
thanks for the words.
i've had some problems too when time was coming to work with the copper sheet. finally what i did is :
i've first made a template from paper to clearly see the various parts i needed then i've carefully cut off the sheet and all the bendings have been done with my trusty Hold And Fold ... to allow a good ease of bending i marked the lines with an Xacto blade (somekind like the PE sets finally)
the hinges have been done by the famous "try and mistake" method :)
now for the step by step pictures .... well i must admit that i didn't take any pic during the process as i was too focused on my work :(
regarding the interior, i've changed my mind :) it is actually under construction hehehehe
but the whole engine+gearbox+final transmission will be done as a stand alone kit because i don't want to hide all those fantastic details ...
thanks again mate

Words cannot describe how sweet that weathering is Franck. You did the right thing by including the interior! :)

With your work here you are starting to fan the embers of my own 1/16th scale T-34 build that I have left dormant for a spell. Where am I going to be able to squeeze that in to my time schedule? Must finish T-34....

hey Frank- be very careful with the parts C-33 that wrap around the brake drums- these were designed to go around C-35 & C-36 but the plastic is not up to the task:( . They have tendancy to break. Everyone has had the problem.
Here is some pics to show what I mean- I managed to get one down without it breaking but the other will need some work to replace the rivety things.

Hi guys,
work is going on the superstructure now as i have finished the interior (well i still have to do the turret one ...)
i couldn't resist to add some light in it as i have a lot of space in the engine compartiment (i keep the engine as a stand alone kit) so here it is now :)
http://www.scaled-panzers.com/t34/int4.jpg
and let there be light :
http://www.scaled-panzers.com/t34/int5.jpg
i have resculpted the seats in order to give them a more "lifelike" look, the cut in the driver's seat have been made from the back and then i've added some milliput to simulate the interior (don't know the word for that ....sorry !)
your comments are welcomed as usual !
Cheers
Franck

Franck, I am sending you a bill for the price of my PC. The sweetness of your model made me drool on it and shorted it out!:)
Simply astounding stuff.
