I have a Mac (G4) and I am wondering if anyone has recommendations on games of the WWII variety.

A Mac?? Dude!!!!!!
All kidding aside my friend, there are unfortunately fewer titles out there for the Mac then PC. I do know though, because I just got it for my brother-in-law for Christmas, that Call of Duty is available for the Mac. It's a WW II first person shooter game that packs great graphics and some intense action. I give it a hearty thumbs up.
I do not know what RTS games are available for the Mac though..if that is your cup of tea that is.
Have you played games before, and if so, which ones did you enjoy? That might help me point out a few.

no I haven't played these games and am a bit hesitant to git inta it cause cuz it will most likely eat into my modelling time which seems rather tight as it is... I did see the one you mentioned at the Mac store before Xmas and the ads on TV look cool but there was also that one Battlefield 1942 there too. And please I like my Mac so lets just respect each other's choice here and we will just skip over the usual pissing contest between Mac and PC hmmmm? ;) :)

yes call of duty is a good game... What kind kind of games are you looking for? real time Strategy or first person shooter or just in general ww2 Strategy.
I'm a hardcore video gamer myself. A good first person shooter I'd go for call of duty. Also its expansion pack united ofensive is great. You can use tanks and you can use flamethrowers.
for real time Strategy try this game blitzkreig. I do not know if its mac compatible but it should be.
their website is http://www.blitzkrieg.de/index.php?page=news.en.bh
for like turn by turn strategy I'd go for this game called Steel Panthers world at War. You can be any country In the world at that time that fought in ww2. You have over 40 countries to pick from and it has every tank possible. Very good and the good thin it is FREE. But it is a huge download over 800 MB. But it is worth it in my view.
heres a couple of websites http://www.fprado.com/armorsite/sp_waw.htm good page describes the game
and the main website is http://www.steelpanthersonline.com/main.asp
hope this helps

Oh I won't get into a pissing contest James!!! I just had to get my one little jab in.
Battlefield 1942 is very good as well, but I would take Call of Duty over it.
And dude, it's going to eat into your modeling time in a big way.

I've played the UT2K3 version, and i've been anxious to try the UT2K4 one... I especially like the vehicle inclusion... Battlefield series never did it for me the controls were too wonky..
Did they incorporate the random dud grenade in '04 RO?

There is not much choice of MAC war game as far as i know blitkrieg isnt for MAC, ether STEEL PANTHER and my beloved Panzer General, there is on MAC: Call of Duty, Medal of Honour, Wolfenstein (also free multiplyer) - all FPS (first person shooter), batllefield 1942 is weird it looks it was designed for multipy challange (i didnt test multiply it just was looking like when i test single) there you can drive tank then stop on the airfield take stuka bomber and take a fly, or just run with a gun or whatever other car/panzer/truck/plane/ship you find, anyway dont try it - You lose lot of time and get nothing instead. I lost plenty of time playing Americas Army (free, also for MAC http://www.americasarmy.com/
its very realistic FPS multiplyer, You have to even make training to get akcess to new maps) i dont know any good strategy game for MAC platform :( good i have PC and MAC
:)
regards from Poland
Panzerfaust (James) - im shure You employed lot of model makers,
it's impossible to do so well so many stuff by just one person :)
