Will Easy Off ruin my aluminum barrel?

I'm about to use it to remove some Vallejo paint that refuses to come off and I notice that the can says not to use it on aluminum. Does anyone have any experience that will save me from having to round up a spare aluminum barrel and run an experiment of my own? I'd really like to get this stuff off once and for all and start repairing the damage. Thanks a lot.

Ouch! I was afraid of that. I'm stripping a DML Tiger and already put the hull into the oven cleaner but fortunately not the turret. I'd have to really tear it up to remove the barrel so now I'm back to square one with the turret. I soaked it in Simple Green and it took some of the paint off but not all. I guess I'll try some 409 next. Anyway, thanks James.

Try some Windex?

I've used Windex to remove Tamiya paint and it took it right off, but it has no effect whatsoever on this Vallejo paint. I was thinking about trying to mask off the barrel and put the turret into the oven cleaner but after seeing your horror story I don't think I'll risk it. I'll just try the 409 and then maybe brake fluid if that doesn't work. I have some Windsor Newton brush cleaner that works like a charm on any acrylic but unfortunately it melts plastic.
