...for 1/2 price. Couldn't pass that one up. Besides, I needed a target for my Tiger I!

Instructions in this kit really impressed me. They are printed on a semi-glossy paper with color pictures of the parts. I've never seen instructions printed like this before!

Apparently, the overall green for this tank is called out as FS34102. Is there a close match in the Tamiya acrylic colors?

The box art shows a tank with white-wash over it, but there are some sort of a chain-link fence pattern up the front of the hull and up the side of the turret. What is that? It literally looks like the white-wash was applied and then a mask was layed over it and the green was sprayed through it.
Wierd.

Well, thanks for any help you guys can give me!

Harrumph. Be careful about what you're calling a target! Just how many Tigers are left, eh?

You don't say which of the dozen DML T-34 kits you have, but from your description it is likely #6205.

Soviet tanks were consistently pained with a colour called "4BO Protective Green". There are many existing T-34s painted in this colour, and the shade of the colour is all over the map. Just about any medium-dark olivish green will work.

As for the camouflage you see, this was the official scheme during the winter of 1941-42. Tanks were overpainted with whitewash, and the bands were filled with brushwork. It is seen on armoured cars, guns, and on tanks, particularly around Moscow during the time of that battle. One famous unit which seems to have used it extensively was 1st Guards Tank Brigade. Other tanks during the same winter can also be seen with a uniform whitewash scheme.
