tazz, i have bought the academy hellcat, and would say your miles better off getting the afv club kit.
the academy kit, whilst only a few years old, is very remeniscent of early tamiya kits, poor toy like detail, thick parts, and the worst tracks ive ever seen in a kit.
by comparison the afv club kit is pretty good, and includes decent tracks and a turned metal gun barrel.
dont be put off academy kits, most are really good, but the hellcat is one to avoid
cheers

I tend to agree with Joe on this also Tazz. I have the AFV Club Hellcat and while I haven't built it yet I'm impressed with looking at it in the box. Reviews on the two on Armormama are kind of mixed but the AFV seems to come out on top. Of course if there is a huge price difference the Academy kit might be a better value.
ohh boy..... i just picked it up.
but i think this kit is pretty good. and teh deatil is nice.
i saw pic the pics of the avf club one, i like the acedmy kit better
iam just a out of box builder.

Hey Tazz, did you happen to see Mail Call last night on The History Channel? The 2nd half of the show was on tank destroyers and showed pictures both from film archives and this guys private stash in northern California. All three main types were shown, M10, M18. and M36. Pretty cool stuff. Watch for it when they show it again.
hi Halfyank yes i did see the show i twas pretty cool.
the funny thing is that iwas saying to myself why dont they have a hell cat on the show lol.
and guys private stash is great.
i wish i had all them tanks.

I built the Academy kit about 2 years ago. It's a decent kit with just a few minor fixes needed. Definetly shave off the tool locators on the hull. Be very careful with the headlight guards as they are quite fragile.
I had more pics of my Academy M18 somewhere, but I was able to find one.
