Hi James,
On my kit, I have decided to graft in a piece with the escape hatch from an Academy Tiger turret (left over when I used a TMD turret). The joint will be covered by the zimmerit.
David Byrden has been very helpful and has made the escape hatch dimensions and location available again on his site http://www.tiger1.info.
My thoughts on lowering the vision ports will be to slice them off and reposition (actually, I can use the ones form the Academy turret that I will take the escape hatch from).
I am considering adding the turret interior from the Academy kit as well to check the possible fit to the Dragon Tiger I kits.
Last, there might be pilsen mounts on the turret roof. I asked David about that and he has not gotten back to me yet.
For my kit, I bought the Link Model Workshop tracks (available from Jaguar Models as well). The DS100 vinyl tracks are nice but they lack the lightening holes. So, I'll use the LMS tracks even if they also are missing the lightening holes.

Hi James,
At the moment, the kit has been washed and a base coat of desert sand added (it is darker than needed but the area between the roadwheels will be darkened further with a wash). The steel tires will be painted with a buffable paint and allowed to dry for about a week. Obviously, no work on the wheels until then. The suspension arms have been glued together but not to the hull.
As for the hull, the kit comes with the Ferdinand/Elefant hull which was modified (lower access areas) when the engines were moved. I have placed a call to Tom Jentz but he may be away on Holiday.
I may need to get creative on the lower hull access areas by switching around the plates.
The interior of the hull will probably be spray painted flat black (as I have done to the engine area) and, while the paint is still wet, used copier toner sprinkled on. This produces the absolute flattest effect I have seen. If you are around an office, try it.

The gun barrel from the kit is VERY good. While Ampersand Publishing's "The Modeler's Guide to the Tiger Tank" mentions adding two sets of screw holes to the barrel collar, it should be three sets at 120 degrees apart, closer to the mantlet, on the lowest point of the collar's diameter is a drain hole as well. These are visible on the Tiger that was at Aberdeen since the collar was mounted upside down onto the mantlet.
As for photos, almost everything is still on sprues while I strategize my approach

Shouldn't this be at PlanetAircraft?
I have both volumes, it took a long time to get them. There is also another sharkmouth book (landscape style with lots of color photos).
As for mouths on armor, this is what I have found so far (all to be built since my first attempts are no longer with me):
German WWII (Since I know that is your favorite)
Tiger I early with snake head on muzzle brake
StuGIII Ausf. G with sharkmouth on topfblende
StuGIII Ausf. G with Elephant eyes, tusks and ears on topfblende
Panzerjager 38 late with baby elephant markings (no tusks)
US in Korea have Shermans and M46 with faces.
