Heya, Folks!
I am curious - does anybody have the Kagero book "M-3 & M-4 Tanks in Pacific Combat"...? I am curious if it has any "new"/unseen photographs or is it just a
re-hash of the same stuff we have previously seen?
I'm thinking of buying it but only if it has something new to offer.
Thanks!
Aloha

Personally I feel the book is worth it The decals that come with it are for ten tanks, including the M3 Stuart,M4 Sherman series,an Aussie M3,and a Japanese Ha-go type 95 light tank
There are ten decals for 1/35 and ten decals for 1/72 The text like I said is in Polish and English basically it's a first hand account of the battles that took place from the tankers view
BTW,the M3 that's in the title is the Stuart light tank Not the M3 Lee medium Hope that helps

The decals are thin and of very good quality, but share a negative feature of many of the Kagero sets: The stroke width - the thickness of the lines that make up letters and markings - is a bit on the thin side in almost every instance (Doris 53 and Davy Jones 61, page 75 for example), and there can be quibbles about some letter shapes. On the plus side, an effort has been made to individualize hand-painted markings distinctively for eachs side, much better than graphic clones that can't be accurate.
For the Marine M3 (diesel) that is featured on page 31, you don't get the white band that circles the turret and ends in circular cutouts where the stars are, and - of course - you still have to accept or deal with the undersized Tamiya turret in 1/35. The most interesting (IMO) Japanese Type 95 that is photographed (page 55) is not on the decal sheet while another is, nor is a terrific M32 tank recovery vehicle (page 70) or Sherman flamethrower (page 73) or dozer versions (page 76). Modelers interested in Commnwealth M3s and M4s might feel that these are slighted, especially on the decal sheet (one quite thinly stroked example).
All in all, a good book that I am not sorry to have bought, but no gold star, either. Caveat emptor.

Thanks, Christopher!
Kind of funny that they would not choose some of the more interesting vehicles in the book for their decal subjects... Still, sounds like the book is worth picking up ---I just hate to order a book sight unseen...always like to look it over to make sure that the pix and info are new and interesting.
Hope to get a look at a copy soon --- Jon at Mission Models will no doubt have it in stock.
And speaking of Type 95s, I sure hope that we get to see some new Japanese WWII subjects in '05 --- it would be great to get some reasonably-priced 35th scale artillery and figures...not to mention aftermarket engines and such... Oh well, I can dream, can't I...?
Thanks again for taking the time to reply!
Much Aloha,
Johnny B.
