Hi All,

It's the first time I am posting here. Thanks for the help from panzerfaust, dsleigh and the administrator of vbench, so I can open my own vbench account. :)

I am planning to build a Sherman with full interior this year. The main componenets I planned to use are :

Tasca 35010 Sherman M4A1 (mid production)
CMK 35026 Sherman Driver set for Tamiya ( It fits to Tasca quite well. :D )
CMK 35027 Sherman Interior for DML (not yet started )
CMK 35025 Sherman engine ( Pre-ordering :p )
Armorscale 0.3 cal x 2
Armorscale 0.5 cal
Lionmarc 75mm barrel
Voyager P/E for Tasca 35010
Modelkasten SK-44 T49 track

Hope I can complete it in this year. Oh yes, I like interior a lot, and schedule to build one every year. :D

Firewall :

Basically, the CMK driver set kit fit well in Tasca Sherman. But I use back the Tasca firewall because it is critical to maintain a right angle of lower hull during assembly.

Radiator :

My CMK's radiator was distorted when I received it :(, and look a bit different than my reference. So, I re-build it by some PE and plastic sheet.

And now, the driving compartment is almost done. Some wires are still missing or unconnected now. After I painted them individually, I will add back the wires/pipes and connect them to the right device. :p

Hi Louis,

Good to see this build here as well! I saw it on ML.
So the CMk set does fit the Tasca kit quite well? Good to know. Got both interior sets in my stash :D

Nice job on the chipping. What do you use for the chips? Sponge?

To reduce the contrast between the chips and the white, you can apply a very very light wash/filter to take some brightness of the white.

Also generally you don't get rust streaks on the inside of a tank unless it was exposed to running water.

Keep up the excellent work :thumb:

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Yes, the chipping is mostly made by sponge, and some by hand paint as well. The shape of chipping made by sponge sometimes looks strange, so I modified them by hand :D

I am not sure if there is rust streak inside a tank, I made it is just because for eye candy purpose :D:D It looks a bit dull when there is only white and grey inside. :p Thanks for your comments anyway, I will correct it in my next tank. :thumb:

Armorscale had the shell too...don't know it fit or not!!! May be you can visit Continental Model shop to take a look. I remembered I saw it at Mr Siu's shop before.

Thanks Flak,

I guess it's the problem of CMK kits, their design added a piece of P/E to each hole, and make the hole even smaller.

Thanks for your suggestion anyway. :thumb:

Build a diorama and either have the turret removed for maintenance or have it blown off by an explosion.

Louis,

Got the Sherman at War book from Concord? There's a nice scene, of a maintenance area in the woods. This shows a complete Sherman hull, with turret and basket removed. Turret shell and basket are displayed separate. If needed, I can make a scan.

The exterior of the Sherman was completed. I had used the Voyager P/E to detail up. The barrel is from LionMarc, and the 50 cal. is made up of Armorscale barrel + handle, Voyager P/E and Verlinden Ammo. box.

King Tiger
Sherman

Thanks for the comments.

At this stage, I think I will not drill the hole for the headlights, since I am afarid it will damage the frame besides it. Anyhow, thanks for the ideas.

The turret is now done.

This is one of the most realistic finishes I've ever seen on an armour kit. And combined with all that interior detail. Simply superb work! :D

And the high quality of the pictures allows everyone see this beauty clearly.

A++

Thanks for the all comments, my friends.

After 10 months, this Sherman is almost done. This is my first vbench, and I would like to thanks again for all your inputs and comments to my little Sherman. Even not all of the procedures were done as in my expectation, but I am so happy to make friends because of this build, and learn more about the Sherman. The feeling is just so good.

Hopefully I will make another full interior next year, and I will post my next vbench that time.

Here is the component list and photos. Enjoy ~ :)

Thanks everybody.

To voss and Flak, I haven't plan the subject for next year yet. Actually I have no idea at all. M1A2 may be a good subject, but I am afarid there is no AM kit available. Panther have everything available, but I am not that interested in this tank. Making a lot of Pz. III and IV before, and a Stug w/interior already. Thinking if I should spend another year for a Pz. IV ? I don't have any clue now. Any recommendations for me ? :)

I have planned to attend the competition this year, my first attempt :P How about you, Flak. Hope I can see you there and have a chat.

P.S. : Do you know a Hong Kong model forum called hkml ? If you have time, give it a visit and we can talk in chinese. http://www.hkml.net/Discuz/index.php
