Months ago, a spanish friend has give me this kit, except the turret, that he use as base for a panzerkommandant figure.
So, I must to use another turret for this cat. I have and old Italeri kit, builded 12 years ago :S , a mantlet from DML kit and a cupula from DML's "Achtung Jabo!" figure kit
I want to buils a Panther with stripes cammo, I thinks they fight in february '45 in Seelow Heights:

If you want to you could add the Armorscale late Panther gun barrel, it comes with a resin chin mantlet.
Btw, did you notice the painted "G" on the front hull?

Hi Dario,
dunno if they all had G's but many of them did. I think it depends on the manufacturer.

I didn't build the DML panther Kit but for me it seems to be good.
Note on the first pic that the rears boxs are not really in contact with the rear plate:

On the second pic you can see the little molded piece from where the electric cable arrive.

Now, a new question. Anybody knows what are those little pins pointed with the blue lines?
And the other question was partially answered by Cèdric, its referre to the chain that fix the towing pintle, where it was soldered?

HI Dario
Those pins are to mount the cold weather starter - it was a little 2 stroke motor that attached to the back of the tank, a shaft ran into an internal flywheel on the back of the engine block of the panther - to help the vehicle start in cold weather. You have followed the DML instructions.. and mounted them upside down!

Trying to make the new turret: I used an old Italeri kit turret. As you know, this turret is too "small", so, it needs more wide. I've tried with the extra zimmerit parts provided for Italeri, but....I don't like it, so I use some plastic sheet. Thanks to Bayer and Movistar for the plastic sheets :D
I rebuilt tje welding markings with a blade attached to a "pirograbber"

The "G" is painted on some Panthers, the discussion on it's meaning is still on. In your pic it's located below the hull mg mount and slightly above the weld between the upper and lower front hull armor.

That home made hot knife looks very usefull.
Just in case the save doesn't work, you can order separate sprues from Tamiya. Either trough the local importer or Rainbow Ten in Japan. It's pretty cheap.

Darius,
The chains are awesome. What a great idea. I'll also be copying that one :thumb:
As far as your other question about striped camo. I believe MAN and MNH used the striped camo. I don't remember where I read about it, as I looked through my book on the Panther by Jentz and Doyle. I seem to remember that the stripes were an interpretation from Wa Pruef about applying paint patterns. So, If I remember correctly, It was base coat dunkelgruen, and Rotbraun, with dunklgelb ( and this is the part where the interpretation comes in) something about sparingly something........something. I'll keep looking. You can find many photos of striped panthers here on Panthers pics thread. This also is probably where the discussion was on the striped camo. Happy searching.

Dario, nice model. Don't buy this wire from a hobby store! Go find a dead computer, pull out the power supply, and rip it apart. The transformers inside will give you a lifetime supply! Dead telephones and other devices also have a rich store of different guages, some of them very fine.

I added some "grass" with a natural plant (helecho plumoso) for the short and cañamo finer for the tall ones. Some little branches and leaves were added too
I added the tow cables and some "dust" to the tank with Tamiya Acrilic first and artist pastels later
Now, the hard part: figures :(

I think the figures look quite good! The camo on the pants looks excellent. Your panther and goundwork are impressive. I do agree with Siim that the shrubs look too similar, you could try cutting them to diffrent lenghts and give them some colour variation? I'm watching this one closely, good work!

OK, this is over...almost. I'm tired of repainted the faces (3 times :() so...finish
At the moment of the pictures, the tank lacks of a jack piece and the tail light.
There are no much paint chips because the tank has been in service jus a pair of weeks (the scene is february-march 1945)
Thanks to all for your support with my proyect

Thank you guys, I'm honoured with your comments.
I forgot to comment the "script" of the scene: The scenario is around Germany (Seelow Heights?).The soldier with the Stg 44 w/ IR device is telling to the Pzkommandant that the russians are coming; his arm is pointing a little hight, because of the heights of the terrain; the guy on his knees is covering for a russian patrol advance. The Pz Kpm. looks worried, and think "Holly sh*t", and the R.O. hear and look and it does not like what it is listening :(
A friend change the dialog, he say tha the Stg 44 guys is saying "Mein kommandant, ther e are no more sausages in that bar" :D
Thanks for look and comment

and new... :D
Seriously, I like the fact that you have a vehicle of a few weeks of age - I would suggest that perhaps you throw some mud spray up the back after you get you light and jack done. Even though it's new, it would still get mudded up (though as you say it may be the photos). The other thing I would suggest is perhaps some aging of the steel panel on the ground - make it contrast the newness of the Panther by showing some rust and discoloration?
Great green paint job - and the figs are looking good as well.
