Hola Guys!

It's been a while since I posted anything really, and its mainly due to the fact that we have moved. We are now located at the end of the civilized world, down in Alpine, Texas. There really is nothing here...El Paso is 3 hours away and Midland/Odessa is 2.5 hrs away, between here and there, there is pretty much just sand and some tumbleweeds.

The one good thing about this place is that it doesnt get too cold (115+ºF in Summer) and that I got a new great work space! It is an old garage I would say that has been converted into two rooms, what you see here is one of the rooms which will be my sculpting/painting studio, while the other half will eventually be dedicated to production for Helo Miniatures.

Here is a shot of Alpine...it sure is pretty but oooh so desolate!

And the 'workshop'

Here is the inside, still being put together, things are still a mess and not really were they belong. Atleast the floor is cleared up from most of the boxes...moving a studio sucks!

I hope to get it all organized and ready to work in soon. Haven't had the chance to sculpt in quite some time so the fingers are itching for some putty action!

As for been in the middle of nowhere, well I like all those open spaces so I don't think is that bad.

Hey Anders,
great place to do some modelling!
I envy you very much when I see the landscape that surrounds you!

One question that is itching me for quite some time:
Do you do any commissioned work from private people?
I got a pic from my mum´s grandpa in WWI which looks very interesting and I would love to have it in either 1/35 or 1/32 but I´m not able to do it myself.
I gave it some trys but all of them turned out, well, let me say not so good.

Thanks guys!

I thought I had replied to this thread earlier but I guess I didnt, sorry!!

It is indeed beautiful here, have been working on the ranch I worked on last summer all week and its such a beautiful place. Rough, rugged desert style terrain with plenty of mountain ranges surrounding the place.

I like to collect uniforms, when sculpting something there is nothing better then to be able to handle the original uniform to get a feel for the material and to get a 360º view of all the seams etc.

The workroom is kind of akward in that on one side there is electrical heaters so no benches can be put there, which leaves a whole lot of 'wasted space' and bare walls, hence the uniforms ont he walls. Its not ideal, but it does cover up the blaring boring white walls.

Markus,

Yes, I do comissions as well. Please PM me to further discuss the project you have in mind.

Nice Digs. Any snakes or scorpians, or maybe a black widow or two?

Well, there is about 7 different species of Rattle Snakes down here, most common is the Diamond Backs but the more dangerous ones are the Mojave and the Black Tail rattlers. The Mojave is one of the most poisenous snake in the US, and you are pretty much dead within 20 minutes of a bite due to two types of toxins, while the diamondbacks only have neurotoxin.

There are a few scorpions here as well, although I have only seen 2 of them during my whole time in west Texas (ca 7 months), compared to about 30 rattle snakes.

As for black widows, I have seen some here, but they were much more common back in Missouri! I have seen a decent sized tarantula though, and man I haaaaate them!!

Its pretty wild out here, it is not called "The Last Frontier" for nothing!
