I recently thought of using parchment paper for making tarps, since other materials (putty or lead) didn't really cut it for me.
Parchment paper is on the other hand a cheap and ready available material.

Part 1: Tarp roll

#1: A piece of parchment paper cut into size.

#2: Next it's moistened with some wind screen cleaner.

#3: Excess cleaner is wiped off and the piece is folded into the desired size.

#4: The piece is rolled into the desired shape.

#5. Some thin wire is added to simulate rope.

#6: The roll is forced into a position resempling some sag, and upon drying hopefully it'll stay in that form.

#7: Paint applied and left to dry overnight.

I tried to use parchment paper for a tarp covering something. For this I used the Sturer Emil and it turned out OK, though I need to do some fixes concerning the technique.

Erik... I like the texture of the parchment, and it looks more durable than tissue.

Why window cleaner?

thanks,

Exactly, the parchment paper has the advantage of being more durable than tissue paper.

I use the window cleaner because it works . I tried with water but it didn't soften the paper to the same degree as the WC.
I think the parchment paper is treated with some sort of wax and the base present in the WC is necessary to break up the wax surface.
