Not a build log but these few photo's represent some significant achievements for me.

1. My first completed model, other than a 1/48th scale Spitfire, in over a year.

2. My first ever serious attempt at painting a figure.

3. The first time I have ever been happy enough with a model to even contemplate posting photo's of the finished article to a modeller's forum.

This is, of course, the EMHAR 1/35th scale Whippet Tank of World War One. The accompanying figure is also from EMHAR. I enjoyed the build, it is a relatively simple kit and went together reasonably well. I wanted to use some of the techniques I've learned from this forum and put them together to produce a really weathered looking vehicle. Having a family interest in the Great War, this kit gave me the opportunity to combine several interests at once.

Any comments/criticisms will be welcomed. Maybe, just maybe, this will spur me on to greater efforts. In the meantime, Armour will have to take a backseat as I have just received my first proper commissions, for three 1/48th scale Spitfires!

Very nice, Kevin. A refreshing change of pace.

Now tell us about these Spitfires! (My favourite aircraft!)

Scott.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier, not been around much this last week. Thanks for the comment, it's one I've really enjoyed, and as I said, the family interest just spurred me on.

Spitfires? Am I allowed to speak of them on here? They are three Airfix 1/48 scale Mark 9's, all to be painted in the current livery of MH434 of the Old Flying Machine Company. While I'm waiting to start that project I'm dabbling with Dragon's Wermacht Cavalry horse and figure in 1/16th. Just to see if I can improve my somewhat lacking painting skills.

MH434 — I know that aircraft! It served on No.222 Sqn during teh war, and served postwar with the RNethAF (H-68) and then the BAF (SM-41) before being sold to a civilian operator. It was one of the aircraft used for the movie "Battle of Britain". Quite an interesting career. I ahve lots of info on markings if it's of any help.

Cheers

I actually have reasonable access to the actual aircraft as it is currently based and flown at Duxford which is approximately two hours drive from my home. This aircraft is also widely featured on the web as it features at many airshows during the year. It was also the mount of the late great Ray Hanna, former leader of the Red Arrows.
