A Ryanair flight from Rome Ciampino to Bergamo has experienced a two hours delay because of a passenger who had a huge rag crocodile as a hand baggage.
The toy has been placed on a whole 3-seat row. During the usual round to see if everyone had locked their seatbelts, a flight assistant noticed the "passenger": "Madam, we cannot takeoff if you don't leave the crocodile here". Soon after, the commander announced: "Ladies and gentlemen, we cannot takeoff because of the crocodile". The passenger didn't want to get rid of it and the people on board divided into two factions: Those who wanted the crocodile and those who wanted to fly as soon as possible.

The flight had already experienced some trouble because of a technical fault, which caused the boarding to be delayed, and thanks to a passenger who didn't want to move his suitcase placed in front of the security exits. In the end, the huge crocodile.

The owner of the crocodile defended the beast with all her strength, using heavy words and almost hitting the hostess, so that the police had to intervene. A passenger shot the whole thing with his cell phone and has been arrested and identified. A nun calmed all down, speaking to the policemen, the crew and thew owner of the crocodile. The woman took her crocodile, disembarked and went away, and the aircraft collected a 2 hours delay!

I'm not sure how dangerous a stuffed toy croc could be? Please don't tell me they thought it was real.

I want to know how she got it on the airplane if it was not to be allowed. Although Rome's airport security was laughable in the 1980s, weren't changes brought in whereby boarders are checked? Surely someone could have said something to her.

That's quite strange... Ryanair has strict hand baggage allowance rules. If they didn't notice at the check-in... how did it enter the x-ray device?!?
