Guess we should start with "Kelly's Heroes", specifically the Tiger built on the T-34 hull. Oddball's Shermans were quite unique, too, with the loudspeakers and pink paint splats.

Same technique was used in "Band of Brothers", IIRC. That movie also had a bunch of "runners", including Marder III H and some StuGs, and I think a Hetzer.

"Saving Private Ryan" also had some good-looking vehicles, runners and some mock-ups.

I remember "Slaughterhouse Five" had some postwar Czech-built SdKfz 251s, forget the proper designation, but that was the first i'd heard of them.

Then there's "Rat Patrol", with the famous Jeep and phony "German" M3 ½-tracks.

M48s and M24s from "Battle of the Bulge" — wouldn't need a vast library for those! That movie was a hoot! Only Hollywood could turn Nevada into the Ardennes!

I saw Russian movie "Cuckoo" (Кукушка) recently. There was a GAZ-67 prominent in the early scenes. "Come and See" (Иди и смотри) had some good replicas/runners, too.

What other movies are there with modellable vehicles?

Cheers
Scott Fraser

"Liberation" (Освобождение) - five films about Great Patriotic War with a lots of replicas and runners - more than 10 tigers in one scene in Kursk battle.

I've seen a very beautiful film about the D-Day, whose Italian title is "The Longest Day".
It is a very accurate depiction of all the events running around the Normandy landing and the vehicles are very accurate. For example, one of the scenes after the initial battle shows a sherman with a wading device.

I think that those tanks were from the spanish army, and the film was done in the proximity of Madrid, not Nevada (that means something covered of snow in spanish)

Another good rusian film "Zvezda" in spanish "Zvezda: Estrella señal de socorro" - in english "The Star" (I guess) good T-34-85 (post war of course) and Tiger mockup runners

Peckimpack's "The Iron Cross" (or something like this) - T-35-85 and some trucks - The same in Vilsmaier's "Stalingrad"

"Enemy at the gates" - some Panzer III runner mockups (I think, my memory isn´t what it used to be) and pehaps some T-34

I think in "Tobruk" there are a lot of "made in USA" german equipment, plus a Model battle with some Pz.IV
model kits, I don´t remember if it is in Tobruk or in another similiar film

Another would be the Ishermans in Sam Fuller's "The Big Red One." They had one painted sand for the Afrika Korps, and one in a whitewash scheme for the Battle of the Bulge. I am currently doing an Academy kit for the Kasserine pass scene, but am substituting a peaked cap for the commander (the one in the film wore a modern tanker's helmet!).

agtquimi,

"Battle of the Bulge" was shot in Spain, not Nevada.
