Hi guys,
Like a lot of people here, I have a couple of years of experience behind the workbench but not with photography.
I just got a Canon S3 IS and I don't seem to be able to get what I want from it. :( My pics are always cloudy or with a grain. The details are not clear.
Can you help me ?
How should I set it up ?
Thanks in advance,
Pat

Can you post more information. A sample or two would be good as well can you include the meta data that is incoded in each picture.

Here are two of my best shot. Still, I'm not satisfied.

What do you mean by meta data ? How can I retrieve it ?
Thanks for your help,
Pat

Those links don't work for me???? Meta data is the automatic data that attaches to your photograph. What software do you use to work with your photos-Photoshop?
Here is a grab I took from a foto I had displayed in PS

Okay- I got one to work- My first sense is to check the iso. It maybe set to high. Smaller number will give best results. Try 80 ISO and use aperture priority mode setting (need a tripod) and a small f-stop (higher number) F8.

Hi James,
Got some spare time at lunch so I was able to make a few test shots.
Here's what I got with your specs. Definitively day and night with my previous efforts.
What do you think ?

(Pat I took the liberty of taking your URL address of the picture and using the IMG icon (the mountain) I made the pic visible- that is way easier for us to see than clicking a link. Try it out in future posts- it's easy. The pic looks way better!)

Merci Jean-Thomas,
Je commence enfin à l'apprivoiser.
Comme je n'ai aucune expérience en photo, c'est un peu plus difficile ;-)
Merci encore,
Pat

If this camera is already capable of installing different lenses, you could use a magnifying one...
With my old camera, I just used the macro mode, but just shot the photo at a very short distance from the model, without using the zoom function.
