Hello!

Well...no wonder...another Panther kit on the bench.:D
The kit has been good so far. I have had to leave certain things off because I am not sure what version I am going to build. What I do know is that it will be a Panther and late-ish G version.;)

This is how far I am by now, not much but still something. I plan to make the hatches workable, so for now they are fixed with Maskol.

As far as I know, the camo will not be one from the instructions.

Yea! NO offense to Jan for doing the box version, but I like the different. And most of these late didn't have much for markings anyhow.....:p

Ok, nothing really to say here, everything is going smooth, the commander's cupola is not glued down as I need to sand it for a better fit.

Hello again, it has been some time since the last update.

The beast is now complete and going to get paint real soon. Yeah I know there are the tools and spare track links to do, but that can wait for now.

It has been an ok model. I messed up some areas and had to do extra work to fix my own work. (cupola and gun muzzle)

Siim, you are almost done! :thumb:
Did you glue the wheels and the tracks, or can you take it apart for paint?
I also found my copula doesn't 'sit' right, how have you fixed yours?

Thank you Marco, Laz, Jan, Fletcher, Rick, Erik and LQ.:)

Jan, I have the wheels attached with Maskol, so that they stay fixed untill the track assembly is done. The tracks are in a single piece so that they just slot back after painting.
Well, I had no option with the cupola, other than to putty it all up. I made a huge mess but I think it looks ok now.

Fletcher.....it is supposed to be a rather ''fresh'' vehicle, so I think not this time.;)

Time for stripes? :thumb:And to all the other camo questions......

EDIT: Pictures removed and replaced with better ones in a later post.

Stripes it is.....:D

There are some areas I am not satisfied so I will see if I correct them. there is a smudge on the turret side, don't know how it got there, but I hope some weathering will hide it.

Sorry, this time late night indoors pictures, not that good, but you all get the idea.

Thanks for looking!

Let there be Stripes! Way to go Siim. Is that all freehand? Did you use guidelines? That's really great control.

Now the real fun begins.

Here are better pictures taken in daylight and I have fixed all the camo problems in these shots.

Rick, yes I did the camo 100% freehand. I had some problems with longer lines and over curved areas as they kind of wanted to go wider than wanted.

Hello again, another little update. As I wanted the model to have some kind of numerical marking, I did a little ''trick''.:D

Having been inspired by Mike Nickolson's very cool panther build

http://www.planetarmor.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1744

I decided I will just change the numbers a bit and have a vehicle that is at least plausible. Experts don't shoot me, as I just wanted a kitty with markings.:D

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g210/Panzergrenadier90/IMGP1256Medium.jpg

I used Mr Mark Setter for the decals. That stuff is amazing, it really ''painted'' the decals right to the model.

Now, a little update. I painted the mufflers and tried to create some kind of finish to them, so they wouldn't be just painted looking. The vehicle is supposed to be pretty new (just has rolled off a railroad wagon and is now going towards the enemy). That in mind I stayed away from rust tones. I was aiming for them to look like they have traces of burnt paint on them or something like that.:D

As far as I think ,the vehicle is now done and it is time to get started with the figures.

I applied some pastel dust and then a Humbrol flat coat. It kind of turned bad on me as when it was dry, the model to on a white dusty look, it shouldn't have been this white.:yell:

What figures are you planning to use?
Jan :)

RickLawler

Siim, you can change the tone of the "off-white" chalks by a very diluted capilary effect of brown oils, just touch the wash to the side of the dust, and let it flow into the area, when it dry's, it will take on the color of the oils.

Go slowly, you can build and achieve lots of tones with a few applications.

Jan, I will use a commander and one guy standing beside the tank ,I don't know as of yet if I will add more.
I'm beginning to get used to the appearance now, but I had a little bit different mental image of the finished model.:D

Rick, thanks for the tip. But the dust is under the clear coat, but yeah, it is worth a try.

Super work Siim :thumb:. I wouldn't worry about the white fading the clear coat resulteted in, I think it looks great. The chipping on the Jerrycan is excellent, how did you achieve that?

Thank you Laz, Dave and Erik!:thumb:

Erik, the canister was painted yellow with enamels. Then given a wash of dark gray with some acrylics. Later I used a sponge dipped in some Model Master Metaliser and then gently tapped over the canister. First a light tapping, then with a bit more paint to unite some chips areas.
