Excellent choice Marco.

Now, I know you are not dreaming of starting this one before the Tiger and the French Carrier are done right???

Marco

Was wondering when we might see your build :) I had a look at it a few days ago and was really surprised to see how few sprues there were compared to DML kits. It seemed that new kits of late have their boxes jam packed with plastic. Tamiya goes against this trend and shows that it's not about how much plastic you get.

I guess you have the latest revised GP book? Also, The Modeler's Guide to Jagdpanzer has some nice shots of the interior.

Hi Marco,

Be careful of using this one as an example. If I recall correctly, this is a reconfigured G-13 with different gun, layout on both interior and exterior, etc.

This vehicle is a ex-G13. VP modeled their interior set after it. Dan

Thanks for your reminded...Saul and Dan.

I would like to start buliding for the Driver's Compartment...but I have a question...

I found the pictures from GP's and MBI book...the 2 sides of the Panels are the holes for the Gear Box shaft pass throught...however, I found that area of Tristar 38(t) and the Marder III H is in raised...see below picture.

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i319/LeungKwokOn/Marco-PA-Forum-Pictures/Tamiya%20Hetzer%20Middle/Tamiya-Hetzer-25.jpg

Please help to confrim...which is the correct one...and can I use the Tristar's 38(t) Gear box and the Engine for the Hetzer

Marco,

looks like another excellent kit from tamiya; can't wait to get my hands on one(a few actually)!

I'm not entirely sure if the Jagdpanzer 38t (hetzer) shared the same transmission as the Pzkpfw 38t (Pz.III.H/M). Probably a safer bet would be to follow the hetzer interior pics that are available. Do take note that most "hetzer" are ex G-13 (Swiss).

No you can't use the Tristar engine. The Hetzer has an uprated 160hp Praga AC/2 6-cylinder engine as opposed to a 125hp Praga EPA 6 cylinder engine of a Pz38t.

Tamiya has provided a "Jig" for the 4 working alxes assembly...that make sure the 4 alxes are line up correctly... :)

Going very well Marco. :thumb: :) :thumb:
I'll try to be little help with the interrior and not only.
I think this subject might have been risen by somenone at PA before but not in this thread.
No so long ago (few months ago) there was "mighty" Hetzer recovered from the Baltic Sea at the Polish coast. Think that might be one of the late production models but may have same interrior as the middle production.
Here you have some galleries from the recovery action as well as some galleries from work that is now in proggress. I always admired people who have the will to spent their time looking for remains of the past and than trying to make them look as good as possible. Keep my fingers crossed to see Hetzer in good condition. From what I have read some of the parts were nearly completely damaged but some where in amazingly perfect shape.
Hope you find some pictures that might help you with the interrior look since its orignal Hetzer not some G-13. :)

My just came by mail today. Think of converting it to an initial model since I have Friuls for Early Hetzer and Aber set and Armorscale Initial Hetzer Barrell.
Have no idea if Middle production had same tracks as Early/Initial one or Late one. If my Fruils are okay for middle production might stay with middle version than.

This website has been around for a while and describes the difference between the Hetzer and the G-13. Also has good pics of one being restored.

http://www.pzfahrer.net/

I have both the VP and Brach Model interior set and as Dan mentioned earlier, the VP set is based on a G-13. While not perfect either, the Brach Model is a better kit. Take note that Brach Models have the interior for both early and mid model.

Hey,

I was speaking to Panzer Fahrer in Texas about his G-13, cosmetically converted to Jagdpanzer 38 , and their museum's Sd.Kfz. 251 Ausf. C which is the ex-Aberdeen Proving Grounds vehicle.

The early Jagdpanzer 38, going through restoration in Canada, is complete and the best reference. Sadly, my contact was very ill and could not visit the museum (CFB Borden?).

As soon as I get mine, I will see if the Eduard set fits the kit.

I wouldn't touch the VP interior with a ten pole barge pole!!

Here's a quick comparison with Brach Models. VP is on top and BM is on the bottom.

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j263/lquah/Misc%20-%20Planet%20Armor/P1018469.jpg

And the biggest problem with VP (other than simplified detail!) is that they got the ammo stowage next to the driver totally wrong!
